1. Solids Flow in Large-Scale Circulating Fluidized Bed Furnaces
Abstract : The flow pattern of solids established in large-scale circulating fluidized bed (CFB) furnaces is of great importance for the performance of commercial CFB boilers, as it governs the heat transfer and mixing of the fuel and any other reactive solids. The solids flow pattern in the riser is crucial for the design and scaling up of large-scale CFB technologies for the thermochemical conversion of solids. READ MORE

2. Heat Balance Modeling of a Stationary Fluidized-Bed Furnace Burning Biomass
Abstract : The influence of biomass fuel properties on the heat balance of the bottom region (bed and splash zone) of a commercial-scale bubbling fluidized-bed furnace is investigated theoretically and experimentally. The experiments have been carried out at the Chalmers 12 MWth research boiler, operated under non-circulating conditions during most of the experiments. READ MORE

3. Solids flows in circulating fluidized beds: explorations of phenomena with applications to boilers
Abstract : The circulating fluidized bed (CFB), which is a technology that is commonly used in the heat and power sector, efficiently converts renewable and/or and low-grade solid fuels, such as biomass and biogenic waste fractions. CFB units serve also as a technological platform for carbon capture processes (combustion by oxy-firing or chemical looping), which are foreseen to play a key role in the transition of the energy system towards decreased atmospheric CO2 emissions. 4. Chloride initiated reinforcement corrosion in marine concrete
Abstract : Factors affecting the total chloride threshold for initiation of pitting corrosion in reinforced concrete were investigated by means of field and laboratory exposure tests. Factors affecting the chloride penetration into concrete were also investigated by means of field tests. The thesis consists of a summary (86 p.) and 11 papers attached. READ MORE
