  1. 1. Studies of Functional Interactions within Yeast Mediator and a Proposed Novel Mechanism for Regulation of Gene Expression

    Author : Magnus Hallberg; Stefan Björklund; Karl Ekwall; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Mediator; Transcriptional regulation; Srb10; Cdk8; Med2; Srb7; Med21; RNA pol II; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; medicinsk biokemi; Medical Biochemistry;

    Abstract : The yeast Mediator complex is required for transcriptional regulation both in vivo and in vitro and the identification of similar complexes from metazoans indicates that its function is conserved through evolution. Mediator subunit composition and structure is well characterized both by biochemical, genetic and biophysical methods. READ MORE

  2. 2. Functional studies in yeast of cyclin C and the RNA polymerase II Mediator complex

    Author : Darius Balciunas; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Cyclin C; RNA polymerase II; Mediator; glucose repression; RAS cAMP pathway; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Biochemistry; medicinsk biokemi;

    Abstract : Cyclin C belongs to a group of cyclins that are not cell cycle-regulated. It was first cloned from Drosophila and rat, but its role was not understood until the yeast cyclin C homologue Srb 11 was identified in several genetic screens for transcriptional repressors and subsequently was shown to be associated with the RNA polymerase II Mediator complex. 3. 3. The transcription machinery in schizosaccharomyces pombe and its regulation

    Author : Henrik Spåhr; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; Gene expression; transcription regulation; in vitro; RNA polymerase II; holoenzyme; mediator; TBP; TFIIB; TFIIF; TFIIH; Srb8-11; Pmc;

    Abstract : The Mediator complex acts as a bridge, conveying regulatory information from enhancers and other control elements to the general transcription machinery. The Mediator was originally identified in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and is required for the basal and regulated expression of nearly all RNA polymerase II dependent genes. READ MORE

  4. 4. Structure and function of the yeast mediator tail domain

    Author : Jenny Béve; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; Transcription; RNA polymerase II; Co-activator; Mediator; Tail- module;

    Abstract : Mediator is a co-regulator complex that transduces regulatory information from activators and repressors to the RNA polymerase 11 transcription machinery. Mediator was originally discovered in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and since then Mediator-like complexes have been isolated in a number of organisms including mammals. S. READ MORE
