21. Ab initio Investigation of Face-centered cubic High-Entropy Alloys
Abstract : High-entropy alloys (HEAs) represent a special group of solid solutions containing five or more principal elements. The new design strategy has attracted extensive attention from the materials science community. The design and development of HEAs with desired properties have become an important subject in materials science and technology. READ MORE

22. Protein mass spectrometry in the drug discovery process
Abstract : Most targets for drug discovery are proteins. Drug discovery includes target identification and validation, structural biology, lead generation, lead optimisation, pre-clinical development and clinical trials. The overall aim of this thesis is to apply protein mass spectrometry (MS) in the early drug discovery process. READ MORE

23. Extraction Properties of some Nitrogen-Containing Extractants and Determination of Nitrate Complex Formation for Lanthanides and Selected Actinides Using Solvent Extraction
Abstract : Partitioning and transmutation of spent nuclear fuel will reduce the amount of waste and its radiotoxicity in a long-term perspective. At the same time the energy content of the spent nuclear fuel can be used more efficiently by recycling of uranium and plutonium and by using energy from the transmutation reactor. READ MORE

24. Materials Design from ab initio Calculations
Abstract : This thesis presents a theoretical study of bulk materials using ab initio methods based on the density functional theory (DFT).Crystallographic structural phase transformations and phase stability for 5f-dioxides, ABO3 perovskites, and ABO4 compounds have been extensively studied. 25. Probing the Standard Model Higgs boson in the WW decay mode with the ATLAS detector at the LHC
Abstract : This thesis is concerns an analysis to probe the Higgs boson in the H→WW(*)→lvlv decay mode, one of three analyses contributing to the discovery of the Higgs boson at a mass of mH = 125 GeV in July 2012. The dataset used are the proton-proton collisions collected with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider during 2012 at a centre of mass energy of 8 TeV, and correspond to a total integrated luminosity of 13.
