  1. 11. Costs in Swedish Public Transport : An analysis of cost drivers and cost efficiency in public transport contracts

    Author : Andreas Vigren; Svante Mandell; Johan Holmgren; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cost; Increase; Efficiency; Contract; Procurement; Public transport; 02 Road: Economics; 02 Road: Economics; Transportvetenskap;

    Abstract : During the last seven years, the total cost for Swedish public transport provision has increased by over 30 percent in real terms according to figures from the government agency Transport Analysis. A similar pattern is found if considering a longer time span. READ MORE

  2. 12. Mechanistic-Empirical Modelling of Flexible Pavement Performance : Verifications Using APT Measurements

    Author : Abubeker W. Ahmed; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Hervè Di Benedetto; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Performance; Deformation; Model not math ; Rutting wheel ; Viscoelasticity; Elasticity; Axle load; Flexible pavement; Laboratory not an organization ; Test; Thesis; Heavy vehicle simulator; Wheel tracking test; 32 Road: Pavement design; 32 Road: Pavement design; Transportvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Abstract : Mechanistic-Empirical  (M-E)  pavement  design  procedures  are  composed  of  a  reliable  response model to estimate the state of stress in the pavement and distress models in order to predict the different types of pavement distresses due to the prevailing traffic and environmental conditions. One of the main objectives of this study was to develop a response model based on multilayer elastic  theory   (MLET)  with  improved  computational  performance  by   optimizing  the   time consuming parts of the MLET processes. 3. 13. Modeling pavement performance based on data from the Swedish LTPP database : predicting cracking and rutting

    Author : Markus Svensson; Sigurdur Erlingsson; Helge Mork; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cracking; Rutting wheel ; Prediction; Calculation; Mathematical model; Flexible pavement; Performance; Sprickbildning; Spårbildning; Förutsägelser; Beräkning; Matematiska modeller; Flexibla överbyggnader; Prestanda; 32 Road: Pavement design; 32 Road: Pavement design;

    Abstract : The roads in our society are in a state of constant degradation. The reasons for this are many, and therefore constructed to have a certain lifetime before being reconstructed. To minimize the cost of maintaining the important transport road network high quality prediction models are needed. READ MORE

  4. 14. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions – Examples from the freight transport sector: Essays on economic growth, public policy instruments, and renewable energy

    Author : Johanna Takman; Johan Woxenius; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis is to improve the understanding of if, and how, we can combat climate change and other non-wanted environmental changes alongside economic development. Paper I address this question by investigating the relationship between CO2 emissions and GDP per capita. READ MORE

  5. 15. Evaluation of Adapted Passenger Cars for Drivers with Physical Disabilities

    Author : Björn Peters; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Disabled person; Driver; Car; Adaptation; Equipment; Vehicle handling; Simulator; Adaptive cruise control; Driving aptitude; Thesis; 911 Road: Components of the vehicle; 911 Road: Components of the vehicle; 841 Road: Road user behaviour; 841 Road: Road user behaviour; 84 Road: Road users; 84 Road: Road users;

    Abstract : Driving can provide independent and efficient mobility. However, according to the driving license directive (91/439/EEC) are persons with locomotor impairments are only allowed drive if their disabilities can be compensated. Compensation can be realised by vehicle adaptations. READ MORE
