  1. 16. Algorithmic and Ethical Aspects of Recommender Systems in e-Commerce

    Author : Dimitris Paraschakis; Jan Persson; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : recommender systems; e-commerce; recommendation ethics; collaborative filtering; thompson sampling; multi-arm bandits; reinforcement learning;

    Abstract : Recommender systems have become an integral part of virtually every e-commerce application on the web. These systems enable users to quickly discover relevant products, at the same time increasing business value. Over the past decades, recommender systems have been modeled using numerous machine learning techniques. READ MORE

  2. 17. Random Graphs: Dynamic and Multi-type Extensions

    Author : Sebastian Rosengren; Maria Deijfen; Olle Nerman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Random graphs is a well-studied field of probability theory, and have proven very useful in a range of applications. However, most random graphs are \textit{static} in the sense that the network structure does not change over time; they also tend to consist of \textit{single-type} objects. This puts restrictions on possible applications. READ MORE

  3. 18. Adaptive finite element/difference methods for time-dependent inverse scattering problems

    Author : Larisa Beilina; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In this thesis we develop adaptive hybrid finite element/difference methods for inverse time-domain acoustic and elastic scattering, where we seek to find the location and form of a (small) unknown object inside a large homogeneous body from measured wave-reflection data. We formulate the inverse problem as an optimal control problem, where we seek to reconstruct unknown material coefficients with best least squares wave fit to data. READ MORE

  4. 19. Fertility, childcare and labour market : dynamics in time and space

    Author : Elena Kotyrlo; Magnus Wikström; Niklas Hanes; Giovanni Forchini; Anders Stenberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Economics; nationalekonomi;

    Abstract : Paper [I] focuses on the effects of time and space dynamics on the description offertility in Sweden. Fertility is an important determinant of long-term populationgrowth and labour market conditions. The influence of time dynamics inpostponing or accelerating childbearing is assessed by considering two differenteffects of earnings. READ MORE

  5. 20. Cost of searching : probabilistic analysis of the self-organizing move-to-front and move -to-root sorting rules

    Author : Josefin Bodell; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Consider two (or more) users who request records in adatabase independently and with different frequencies. On arequest, the user's probability of calling a certain record iseither constant or changes deterministically in time. One userhas priority over the other(s) and rearranges the recordsaccording to seff-organizing rules. READ MORE
