  1. 21. Weighted Regression with Application to Array Antennas

    Author : Astrid Lundgren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; array antenna; weighted regression; statistical estimation theory; modelling; calibration;

    Abstract : A nonlinear system can be modelled with a simple linear model ifthe model is only valid locally. This can be done by assigningweights to the estimation data, as a function of the distance tothe modelled point. The weighting is here used to develop adirection-dependent calibration method for array antennas. READ MORE

  2. 22. Towards Dense Air Quality Monitoring : Time-Dependent Statistical Gas Distribution Modelling and Sensor Planning

    Author : Sahar Asadi; Achim Lilienthal; Amy Loutfi; Dominque Martinez; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mobile robot olfaction; time-dependent gas distribution modelling; temporal sub-sampling; sensor planning; artificial potential field; gas monitoring;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the problem of gas distribution modelling for gas monitoring and gas detection. The presented research is particularly focused on the methods that are suitable for uncontrolled environments. READ MORE

    Author : Azra Selimovic; Kraftverksteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; statistical physics; plasma; plasmas; Gaser; fluiddynamik; Termisk teknik; termodynamik; Gases; fluid dynamics; applied thermodynamics; Thermal engineering; Hybrid Cycles; Gas Turbines; Mathematical Modelling; Electrochemistry; Fuel Cells; Solid Oxide Fuel Cells; thermodynamics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik; relativitet; gravitation; statistisk fysik; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; classical mechanics; quantum mechanics; relativity;

    Abstract : Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), working at high temperatures with an incomplete fuel oxidation process, have become an interesting candidate for combination with conventional power generation technology, such as gas turbines, in order to develop power plants that are both functional and efficient. An absolute condition for successful analysis and optimisation of such plants is the existence of reliable simulation tools. READ MORE

  4. 24. Process modelling in pulp and paper manufacture : Application studies with aspects of energy efficiency and product quality

    Author : Daniel Ekbåge; Lars Nilsson; Helena Håkansson; Birgitta Engberg; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CTMP; freeness; process modelling; board machine; multiple effect evaporator; Miljö- och energisystem; Environmental and Energy Systems;

    Abstract : The manufacture of pulp and paper is an energy intensive process configured of several unit processes that shape a network of flows of wood chips, chemical pulp, mechanical pulp, board and other important components. Improved energy efficiency supports sustainability of the process and the products. READ MORE

  5. 25. Ridged sea ice modelling in climate applications

    Author : Sebastian Mårtensson; Markus Meier; Kristofer Döös; Peter A. Lundberg; Frank Kauker; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic ocean; Baltic Sea; sea ice; ice dynamics; numerical modelling; climate; ice deformation; ice compression; physical and biogeochemical interactions; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Abstract : This work aims to increase our understanding of the nature of large scale features of sea ice from a dynamics point of view.Sea ice plays an important part in the exchange of heat and humidity between sea and air and thus is an important component of the climate system. READ MORE
