  1. 1. Structural evolution of two ore-bearing Palaeoproterozoic metasupracrustal belts in the Kiruna area, Northwestern Fennoscandian Shield

    Author : Joel Andersson; Tobias Bauer; Olof Martinsson; Luth Stefan; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In this project, two key study areas in the northwestern Fennoscandian Shield are under investigation. The “Western supracrustal belt” and “Central Kiruna area” are both located along lithotectonically comparable Rhyacian-Orosirian metasupracrustal belts and both areas are characterized by iron oxide-apatite (IOA) and iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG)-style mineralizations and related hydrothermal alterations. 2. 2. Quantifying strain in analogue models simulating fold-and-thrust belts using magnetic fabric analysis

    Author : Thorben Schöfisch; Hemin Koyi; Bjarne Almqvist; Stefan Luth; Ram Weinberger; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; analogue modelling; AMS; fold-and-thrust belt; strain distribution; décollement friction; magnetic fabric analysis;

    Abstract : Applying the anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility to analogue models provides detailed insights into the strain distribution and quantification of deformation within contractional tectonic settings like fold-and-thrust belts (FTBs). Shortening in FTBs is accommodated by layer-parallel shortening, folding, and thrusting. READ MORE

  3. 3. Revealing invisible strain : Magnetic Fabric Analysis as Strain Indicator in Analogue Models and Nature

    Author : Thorben Schöfisch; 0000-0002-1872-052x Hemin; Bjarne Almqvist; Stefan Luth; Ian Alsop; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analogue Modelling; Magnetic Fabric Analysis; AMS; Strain distribution; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Earth Science with specialization in Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Abstract : Strain is accommodated by folding, thrusting and an “invisible” component, known as penetrative strain. Magnetic fabric analysis allows for identification and quantification of this imperceivable strain. In this thesis, magnetic fabric analysis is applied to quantify strain in analogue sandbox models. 4. 4. Crustal architecture of the Kiruna mining district : Structural framework, geological modeling, and physical rock property distribution

    Author : Ervin Csaba Veress; Tobias Bauer; Stefan Luth; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kiruna mining district; geological modeling; structural framework; common earth modeling; petrophysical characterization; mineral exploration; iron oxide-apatite; Ore Geology; Malmgeologi;

    Abstract : Rapid technological advancements and growing environmental consciousness created a shifting dynamic of metal demand within the context of contemporary global challenges. The metals play a pivotal role in this transformation and remarkable surge in demand is expected. READ MORE
