  1. 1. DNA flow cytometry of cytokeratin selected breast cancer cells as prognostic indicator

    Author : Sten Wingren; Mårten Fernö; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : DNA flow cytometry is used for the estimation of cell proliferation (S-phase fraction) and abnormalities in cellular DNA content (DNA ploidy), parameters which yield prognostic information in breast carcinomas. However, stromal, inflammatory, and residual non-neoplastic epithelial cells overlap cancer cells in the DNA histogram and complicate the calculation of DNA ploidy and S-phase fraction. READ MORE

  2. 2. Biological profiles of endocrine breast cancer

  3. 3. Biological signature of HER2-positive breast cancer

    Author : Breezy Malakkaran Lindqvist; Sten Wingren; Torbjörn Nilsson; Ingrid Hedenfalk; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; HER2 breast cancer; SLC25A43; CpG island; DNA methylation; Homeobox genes; FOXO3a; FOXG1; Biomedicin; Biomedicine;

    Abstract : Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) overexpressing breast cancers (HER2+ breast cancer) are associated with an aggressive disease course. This thesis is focused on improving the understanding of the biological signature of HER2+ breast cancer. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studies of tamoxifen resistance in breast cancer

    Author : Pia Palmebäck Wegman; Sten Wingren; Nils Wilking; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; tamoxifen; polymorphism; metabolic enzymes; oestrogen synthesis; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : Oestrogen is one of the most important hormonal regulators and is known to play a key role in the development and growth of breast cancer. The majority of tumours have a hormone dependent growth, and this is indicated by the presence of oestrogen receptors (ERs). READ MORE
