  1. 1. Photochemical Surface Functionalization : Synthesis, Nanochemistry and Glycobiological Studies

    Author : Lingquan Deng; Olof Ramström; Javier Rojo; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbohydrates; Glycobiology; Carbohydrate-protein interactions; Perfluorophenylazide PFPA ; Photochemistry; Carbohydrate surface immobilization; Carbohydrate microarrays; Surface plasmon resonance SPR ; Quartz crystal microbalance QCM ; Atomic force microscopy AFM ; Glyconanomaterials; Concanavalin A Con A ; Cyanovirin-N CV-N ; 1-Glycosyl thiols; Mutarotation; 1-S-glycosylation; Stereocontrol;

    Abstract : This thesis mainly deals with the development of photochemical approaches to immobilize carbohydrates on surfaces for glycobiological studies. These approaches have been incorporated into a number of state-of-the-art nanobio-platforms, including carbohydrate microarrays, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), quartz crystal microbalance (QCM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and glyconanomaterials. 3. 3. Fast Chemistry by Microwave Heating : First Descriptions of Highly Enantioselective Microwave Protocols for Metal Catalysis; First Descriptions of in-situ Gas Generation for Fast Combinatorial Microwave Chemistry

    Author : Nils-Fredrik K. Kaiser; C. O.; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Organic Pharmaceutical Chemistry; organisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Abstract : Microwave heating was applied to different palladium-catalyzed allylic substitution reactions. The use of various nucleophiles demonstrated C-, N-, O- and S- nucleophilicity. High yields and stereopurities of the corresponding alkyls, amides, ethers and sulfones were afforded after only 30 – 120 s of heating. READ MORE

  4. 4. The Use of N,P-Iridium and N,P-Palladium Complexes in Asymmetric Synthesis

    Author : Wangchuk Rabten; Pher Andersson; Virginie Vidal; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Iridium; Asymmetric Hydrogenation; Palladium; Asymmetric Cycloisomerization and Hosomi-Sakurai Allylation; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis concerns asymmetric catalysis using chiral N,P-ligands and iridium or palladium transition metals. The first part  (Chapters 2 and 3) highlights the N,P-iridium catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of 1,4-cyclohexadienes having functionalized or unfunctionalized substituents, including allylsilane side chains.
