1. Stress, sleep disturbance, and related ill-health : from prevalence and risk-factors to indicated interventions
Abstract : With focus on stress-related ill-health and insomnia/sleep disturbance, the overall aim of this thesis was to determine severity and prevalence, risk factors and effectiveness of low-intensity group sessions. This was accomplished by taking epidemiological and quasi-experimental approaches. READ MORE

2. Bandwidth Limited Distributed Optimization with Applications to Networked Cyberphysical Systems
Abstract : The emerging technology of Cyberphysical systems consists of networked computing, sensing, and actuator devices used to monitor, connect, and control physical phenomena. In order to economically and sustainably operate Cyberphysical systems, their devices need to cooperate over a communication network to solve optimization problems. READ MORE

3. Low social support and disturbed sleep : epidemiological and psychological perspectives
Abstract : The Swedish work force underwent dramatic changes during an economic crisis in the 1990s. In the aftermath, sick leave increased at an unprecedented rate and stress-related disorders, such as burnout, depression, and sleep disturbances replaced earlier work-related diagnoses. READ MORE

4. Developing a food waste-based volatile fatty acids platform using an immersed membrane bioreactor
Abstract : Approximately 1.3 billion tons of food waste is produced globally every year. In principle, all the resources in the supply chain are lost (e.g. READ MORE

5. Finite element modelling of the mechanics of solid foam materials
Abstract : Failure of bi-material interfaces is studied with the aim to quantify the influence of the induced stress concentrations on the strength of the interfaces. A simple point-stress criterion, used in conjunction with finite element calculations, is evaluated to provide strength predictions for bi-material bonded joints and inserts in polymer foam. READ MORE
