11. Detailed Numerical Simulations of Turbulent Premixed Flames at Moderate and High Karlovitz Numbers
Abstract : In generally accepted and applied flamelet combustion models, a turbulent flame is mainly assumed distorted by the large-scale turbulence eddies, whereas small-scale turbulence effects on the local flamelet structures are neglected. However, in a lot of industrial applications rather high turbulent intensities are often imposed, which induce turbulence scales at ranges smaller than the flame thickness. READ MORE

12. ON THE WAKE STRUCTURES OF FLOW AROUND DEFORMING AND VIBRATING BODIES
Abstract : This thesis concerns the study of Fluid-Structure interaction phenomena among deforming and (non-deforming) vibrating objects under unsteady fluid fl ow exposures. This multi-physical phenomenon is widely encountered in real-life situations and therefore it is of significant importance to understand the underlying physics. READ MORE

13. Experimental Studies of Turbulent Mixing in Impinging Jets
Abstract : This thesis concerns the experimental study of mixing and flow characteristic in turbulent circular impinging jets without and with jet orifice manipulators (i.e. passive-fixed perturbations atthe nozzle exit), without and with swirl. READ MORE

14. Studies of Gas Turbines Combustion Chambers: Use of New Fuels and Development of New Tools
Abstract : The growing world electricity demand and environmental concerns pushes toward new technology for electricity production. Within the thermal processes for electricity production, two axis of research are being developed to meet the needs of the industry, namely using renewable fuels and new generation burners technology. 15. Modeling of Pulverised Wood Flames
Abstract : The aim of the current work was at development and validation of modeling tools for simulation of pulverised wood flames in furnaces and study how different factors influence on such flames. The numerical model involves different sub-models for the physo-chemical processes, such as, two-phase flow motion, drying, devolatilization and shrinkage of particles, the formation and oxidation of volatile, tar and char, turbulence-chemistry interaction, turbulence-radiation interaction, etc. READ MORE
