1. On weak and strong convergence of numerical approximations of stochastic partial differential equations
Abstract : This thesis is concerned with numerical approximation of linear stochastic partial differential equations driven by additive noise. In the first part, we develop a framework for the analysis of weak convergence and within this framework we analyze the stochastic heat equation, the stochastic wave equation, and the linearized stochastic Cahn-Hilliard, or the linearized Cahn-Hilliard-Cook equation. 2. Intellectual Property Strategies and Innovation: Causes and Consequences for Firms and Nations
Abstract : New and useful ideas and knowledge, commonly denoted innovations after coming into use, are of decisive importance for economic growth and welfare. To promote the generation and diffusion of innovations, most, if not all, industrialized and industrializing societies rely on some form of an intellectual property rights (IPRs) system. READ MORE

3. Quantum Optics and Waveguide Quantum Electrodynamics in Superconducting Circuits
Abstract : Waveguide circuit quantum electrodynamics (waveguide circuit QED) studies light-matter interaction with superconducting circuits in one dimension. In circuit QED, natural atoms are replaced by superconducting qubits consisting of a non-linear Josephson junction, resulting in an anharmonic energy spectrum just like real atoms. READ MORE

4. Numerical Approximation of Solutions to Stochastic Partial Differential Equations and Their Moments
Abstract : The first part of this thesis focusses on the numerical approximation of the first two moments of solutions to parabolic stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) with additive or multiplicative noise. More precisely, in Paper I an earlier result (A. Lang, S. Larsson, and Ch. READ MORE

5. Weak Boundary and Interface Procedures for Wave and Flow Problems
Abstract : In this thesis, we have analyzed the accuracy and stability aspects of weak boundary and interface conditions (WBCs) for high order finite difference methods on Summations-By-Parts (SBP) form. The numerical technique has been applied to wave propagation and flow problems. READ MORE
