1. Computational modelling of structural battery composites
Abstract : Batteries and surrounding structures (e.g. battery modules and packs) in electrical vehicles and devices are often designed in a way that prevents the electro-chemically active part of the battery cells from being exposed to mechanical loads during operation/service. READ MORE

2. Smart Energy Grids – Utilization of Space Heating Flexibility
Abstract : Buildings are the largest energy-using sector in the world. Since the generation of energy is highly associated with greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to climate change, there is a large focus on reducing energy use in buildings. READ MORE

3. Addressing the complexity of sustainability-driven structural design: Computational design, optimization, and decision making
Abstract : Being one of the sectors with the largest environmental burden and high socio-economic impacts sets high requirements on the construction industry. At the same time, this provides the sector with great opportunities to contribute to the globally pursued sustainability transition. READ MORE

4. Corrosion of steel bars in fibre reinforced concrete: corrosion mechanisms and structural performance
Abstract : The viability of employing fibre reinforcement to improve the durability performance of RC structures by delaying and/or reducing rebar corrosion and by mitigating the structural impact of corrosion-induced damage have been investigated. Given the enhanced crack control of FRC, it could be advantageous to use fibres in civil engineering structures to decrease the ingress of corrosion-initiation substances. READ MORE

5. Characterisation of a structural battery composite and its constituents
Abstract : The structural battery composite is a recently successfully developed multifunctional lithium-ion battery. It is safer and capable to carry mechanical load compared to commercially available liquid electrolyte batteries. READ MORE
