  1. 1. Becoming Image : Perspectives on Digital Culture, Fashion and Technofeminism

    Author : Lisa Ehlin; Louise Wallenberg; Nina Lager Vestberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Technology; Selfie; Embodiment; Tumblr; Memory; Instagram; Posthumanism; modevetenskap; Fashion Studies;

    Abstract : Departing from a technofeminist perspective, Becoming Image, places the digital image in a broader context of modern and postmodern technological discourses and fashion. 2. 2. Fighting Tuberculosis – : Structural Studies of Three Mycobacterial Proteins

    Author : Alina Castell; Torsten Unge; Manfred Weiss; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mycobacterium tuberculosis; Rv0216; Rv0130; Mycobacterium smegmatis; branched chain aminotransferase; X-ray crystallography; fatty acid metabolism; Structural biology; Strukturbiologi;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the cloning, purification, crystallization, and structural studies of two unknown proteins from Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and of an aminotransferase from Mycobacterium smegmatis. Structural knowledge of these proteins is of highest interest for structure-based drug design, which is one of the approaches that can be used in order to fight tuberculosis (TB). READ MORE

  3. 3. Structural studies of proteins in apoptosis and lipid signaling

    Author : Maria Dolores Herman Moreno; Pär Nordlund; Markus Gruetter; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proteins; crystal structure; apoptosis; cancer; CoFi-Blot; kinases; lipid signaling; Structural biology; Strukturbiologi; Structural Biology; strukturbiologi;

    Abstract : Signaling pathways control the fate of the cell. For example, they promote cell survival or commit the cell to death (apoptosis) in response to cell injury or developmental stimuli, decisions, which are vital for the proper development and functioning of metazoan. READ MORE

  4. 4. Structural studies of the surface adhesin SspB from Streptococcus gordonii

    Author : Nina Forsgren; Karina Persson; Inger Andersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Streptococcus gordonii; X-ray crystallography; surface adhesin; dental plaque; structural biology; Structural biology; Strukturbiologi; ODONTOLOGY; ODONTOLOGI; odontologi; Odontology;

    Abstract : Surface proteins on microorganisms that build up the oral biofilm are key players in the formation of the biofilm. Antigen I/II proteins are surface adhesins found on virtually all oral streptococci and share a conserved multi-domain architecture. These adhesins bind surface components on other bacteria and on host cells. READ MORE

  5. 5. Voices from the margins : People, media, and the struggle for land in Brazil

    Author : Paola Sartoretto; André Jansson; Thomas Tufte; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Social movements; mobilisation; media ethnography; Latin America; Media and Communication Studies; Medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap;

    Abstract : This study looks into communicative processes and media practices among members of a subaltern social movement. The aim is to gain an understanding of how these processes and practices contribute to symbolic cohesion in the movement, how they develop and are socialized into practices, and how these processes and practices help challenge hegemonic groups in society.
