  1. 1. Teaching for the learning of additive part-whole relations : The power of variation and connections

    Author : Anna-Lena Ekdahl; Ulla Runesson Kempe; Hamsa Venkat; Camilla Björklund; Christiane Benz; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; variation; variation theory; connections in teaching; making connections; early numbers; teaching and learning additive relations; part-whole relation; part-whole relations of numbers; intervention study;

    Abstract : In this thesis, results from four empirical studies and a re-analysis are synthesized with what can constitute a structural approach to teaching and learning additive part-whole relations among learners aged four to eight years. In line with a structural approach to additive relations, the relations of parts and whole are in focus from the outset and are seen as the basis for addition and subtraction (Davydov 1982; Neuman, 1987). 2. 2. Structural assessment procedures for existing concrete bridges : Experiences from failure tests of the Kiruna Bridge

    Author : Niklas Bagge; Björn Täljsten; Paulo Cruz; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Anchorage; carbon fibre reinforced polymers; concrete; existing bridges; finite element analysis; flexure; full-scale test; load-carrying capacity; residual prestress force; punching; safety verification; shear; structural assessment; structural behaviour; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Assessing existing bridges is an important task in the sustainable management ofinfrastructure. In practice, structural bridge assessments are usually conducted usingtraditional and standardised methods, despite knowledge that these methods oftenprovide conservative estimates. READ MORE

  3. 3. Timber-concrete hybrid structural systems : Examples, long and short-term dynamic monitoring, and numerical analysis

    Author : Carl Larsson; Michael Dorn; Åsa Bolmsvik; Thomas K. Bader; Henrik Danielsson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Timber-Concrete Hybrid Structures; Timber Design; Structural Dynamics; Structural Health Monitoring; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Abstract : Timber-concrete hybrid buildings are an innovative solution to increase the amount of timber materials in modern buildings. Due to its lower impact on the environment than materials like steel and concrete, the demand for timber products is rising as the construction industry aims to decrease its environmental footprint. 4. 4. Structural genomic variation in human disease

    Author : Maria Pettersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Structural variants (SVs) are physical changes in the structure of chromosomes and include both unbalanced copy number variants (CNVs) and balanced events (translocations, inversions and insertions). Many SVs constitute benign background variation and are found frequently in healthy individuals. READ MORE

  5. 5. How to Reduce Geometrical Variation in Assembled Products

    Author : Johan Carlson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; assembled products; body-in-white BIW ; dimensional variation; geometrical variation; fixtures; fixture diagnosis; locating schemes; multivariate analysis; rigid body motion; robust design; root cause; quality; root cause;

    Abstract : Vehicle problems, such as wind noise, water leakage and door closing effort are examples of quality and functionality defects that are controlled by the dimensional accuracy of the structural frame of an auto body. The aim of this thesis is towards methods for reducing geometrical variation in assembled products in the automotiv other industries. READ MORE
