1. Pictorial presentation of subclinical atherosclerosis : a measure to reduce the risk for cardiovascular disease
Abstract : The overall aim was improved cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention through the VIPVIZA intervention. This includes the provision of pictorial information of subclinical atherosclerosis to participants and their general practitioners (GPs), follow-up phone call, and written information to the participant. 2. Laboratory methods for investigation of the immunological orchestra in response to pathogens
Abstract : Laboratory methods used for investigation of immune response often involve collection of whole blood and analysis of different biomarkers in blood components or generated from pathogen stimulation of whole blood or peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC). Methods used to measure biomarkers are for example enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) which measures one biomarker at a time or multiplex assays for example x-unknown, multi-analyte profiling (xMAP) by Luminex or proximity extension assay (PEA), which can measure up to just over 3000 biomarkers at a time. 3. Ultrasound measurements of subclinical carotid atherosclerosis : methodological and clinical studies
Abstract : Ultrasound measurements of subclinical carotid atherosclerosis have been evaluated as an additional parameter in risk evaluation of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). The overall aim of this thesis was to increase knowledge regarding ultrasound measurements of subclinical carotid atherosclerosis. READ MORE

4. Serological markers in subclinical and clinical gluten enteropathy
Abstract : An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) has been developed for the measurement of anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA), thereby providing a practical and cheap assay for use in the diagnosis of coeliac disease (CD). Since gliadin is a common food antigen for most people, a large group of apparently healthy blood donors (n=l866) was analysed, as well as children and adults with symptoms more or less suggesting CD. 5. Adiponectin : genetic determinants and relations with subclinical cardiovascular disease
Abstract : Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major cause of morbidity and premature death in Sweden and globally, which besides the substantial individual suffering, puts large restraints on the public health system. Adiponectin is a highly heritable trait, which is strongly associated with metabolic disturbances such as obesity and insulin resistance. READ MORE
