  1. 1. Transport and environment incentive policy instruments : effects and interactions

    Author : Xing Liu; Lars Hultkrantz; James Odeck; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Congestion pricing; Equity effects; Modal choice; Social marginal cost; Externalities; Transport taxation; Carbon tax; Carbon leakage; Computable General Equilibrium Model; VTTS; Simultaneous decision model; Random utility model; Logistics cost minimization; Additionality; Klimp; Climate subsidy program; Subsidy; CDM; Business Studies; Företagsekonomi;

    Abstract : This dissertation studies issues related to the evaluation of the effects and interactions of transport and environmental incentive policy instruments. Essay 1: Green cars sterilize congestion charges: a model analysis of the reduced impact of Stockholm road tolls calibrates a modal-choice model with data from the Stockholm road toll and uses it to study the sensitivity of congestion toll effects to some seemly subtle changes in the toll system design and external circumstances. 2. 2. Effects of Certainty on Decision Making under Uncertainty: using subsidies to reduce production of environmental harmful products

    Author : Lars E. Olsson; Lars E Olsson; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : certainty; environmental; policy; experiment; individuel decision making; interdependent decision making; risk taking; subsidy; uncertainty;

    Abstract : The present thesis investigates the effects of an environmental policy, with the focus on producers’ decision making, which may be used as a means to decrease the production of environmentally harmful products. A subsidy system reimbursing a reduction in sales and/or production is with this aim experimentally investigated by simulating a market. READ MORE

  3. 3. Renewable Energy Market for Rural Electrification in Developing Countries: Country Case Nepal

    Author : Brijesh Mainali; Semida Silveira; Björn Kjellström; KTH; []
    Keywords : SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; renewable energy; rural electrification; off-grid; financing; subsidy; credit; equity; market; extensive growth; intensive growth; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The availability of abundant renewable resources, lack of fossil fuels and difficult geographical terrain for grid line extensions contribute to the advantages of renewable based decentralized rural electrification in Ne-pal. Solar home system (SHS) and micro-hydro are the most commonly adopted off-grid renewable energy technologies in the country. READ MORE

  4. 4. Ecology across Boundaries : Food web coupling among and within ecosystems

    Author : Pia Bartels; Peter Eklöv; Lars J. Tranvik; Daniel E. Schindler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; cross-ecosystem; food web; habitat coupling; terrestrial-aquatic linkages; subsidy; allochthonous; lake ecosystem; population divergence; trait variation; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestrisk; limnisk och marin ekologi; Freshwater ecology; Limnisk ekologi; Biology; Biologi; Biology with specialization in Limnology; Biologi med inriktning mot limnologi;

    Abstract : Cross-boundary movements of energy and material are ubiquitous. Freshwater ecosystems receive nutrients, dissolved, and particulate organic matter from adjacent terrestrial ecosystems, whereas terrestrial ecosystems mainly receive prey organisms and detritus deposited by physical processes such as floods from freshwater ecosystems. 5. 5. Experimental Simulations of a Subsidy System to Reduce Production of Environmentally Harmful Products

    Author : Lars E. Olsson; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Competition; Dilemmas; Environmental policy; Experimental Subsidy Game; Interdependent decision making; Reference values;

    Abstract : The environment on earth is threatened by increasing trends in consumption and production causing the highest emission levels ever. Therefore, finding solutions targeting these trends are needed. READ MORE
