  1. 1. Quinone reduction sites and the role of heme in succinate:quinone reductase. Studies in Bacillus subtilis and Paracoccus denitrificans

    Author : Mikael Matsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carboxin; cytochrome b; electron transport; heme; quinone; Paracoccus denitrificans; Bacillus subtilis; Succinate:quinone reductase; succinate dehydrogenase; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi;

    Abstract : Succinate:quinone reductase (SQR) is an enzyme in the respiratory system of aerobic cells. SQR catalyzes two reactions, the oxidation of succinate to fumarate and the reduction of quinone to quinol. These reactions are coupled by electron transfer within the enzyme from the site of succinate oxidation to the site of quinone reduction. READ MORE

  2. 2. Poly (butylene succinate) and poly (butylene adipate) : quantitative determination of degradation products and application as PVC plasticizers

    Author : Annika Lindström; Minna Hakkarainen; Ann-Christine Albertsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; solid phase extraction; degradation products; poly butylene succinate ; poly butylene adipate ; GC-MS; PVC; plasticizer; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : A solid phase extraction (SPE) method was developed for simultaneous extraction of dicarboxylic acids and diols formed during hydrolysis of poly(butylene succinate), PBS, and poly(butylene adipate), PBA. The developed SPE method and subsequent GC-MS analysis were used to extract, identify and quantify low molecular weight products migrating from linear and branched poly(butylene adipate) (PBA) and poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) during aging in aqueous media. 4. 4. On metabolic networks and multi-omics integration

    Author : Rasmus Ågren; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; succinate; genome-scale metabolic model; metabolic engineering; systems biology; penicillin; NASH; flux balance analysis; metabolism; cancer; reconstruction;

    Abstract : Cellular metabolism is a highly complex chemical system, involving thousands of interacting metabolites and reactions. The traditional approach to understanding metabolism has been that of reductionism; by isolating and carefully measuring the involved components, the goal has been to understand the whole as the sum of its parts.
