1. From Food Preference to Craving : Behavioural Traits and Molecular Mechanisms
Abstract : Preference for palatable and energy-dense foods may be a risk factor for body weight gain and has both genetic and environmental components. Once obesity develops in an individual, weight loss is difficult to achieve. READ MORE

2. Live Biotherapeutics : importance of formulation and lyophilization parametersand an example of a clinical application
Abstract : In recent years, probiotics have expanded from their traditional classification as “health promoting food” to the development of live biotherapeutic products (LBP). Traditional probiotics are marketed as food/dietary supplements while LBPs are drug products intended for treatment or prevention of diseases. READ MORE

3. UDP-sugar metabolizing pyrophosphorylases in plants : formation of precursors for essential glycosylation-reactions
Abstract : UDP-sugar metabolizing pyrophosphorylases provide the primary mechanism for de novo synthesis of UDP-sugars, which can then be used for myriads of glycosyltranferase reactions, producing cell wall carbohydrates, sucrose, glycoproteins and glycolipids, as well as many other glycosylated compounds. The pyrophosphorylases can be divided into three families: UDP-Glc pyrophosphorylase (UGPase), UDP-sugar pyrophosphorylase (USPase) and UDP-N-acety lglucosamine pyrophosphorylase (UAGPase), which can be discriminated both by differences in accepted substrate range and amino acid sequences. 4. Studies of nucleotide receptors-induced calcium response in glomerular mesangial cells and afferent arterioles
Abstract : It is known that intracellular calcium concentration ([Ca2+]i) changes in rat glomerular mesangial cells (GMC) and rabbit afferent arterioles (AA) in response to extracellular nucleotides. We studied the nucleotide-induced calcium response in cultured GMC and AA. READ MORE
