  1. 1. Parametrically pumped superconducting circuits

    Author : Philip Krantz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SQUID; circuit quantum electrodynamics; Josephson junction; Superconducting circuits; resonators; parametric oscillators; quantum bit; pumpistor; quantum information;

    Abstract : In this licentiate thesis, I present the design, fabrication, and characterization of superconducting parametric resonators, for use in quantum information processing. These devices are quarter-wavelength coplanar waveguide resonators (~5 GHz), terminated at one end by a non-linear inductance provided by a SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device). 2. 2. Quantum acoustics with superconducting circuits

    Author : Gustav Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; superconducting qubits; cluster states; SAW; two-level systems; circuit QED; giant atoms; two-mode squeezing; surface acoustic wave; quantum acoustics; hybrid quantum systems;

    Abstract : The past 20 years has seen rapid developments in circuit quantum electrodynamics, where superconducting qubits and resonators are used to control and study quantum light-matter interaction at a fundamental level. The development of this field is strongly influenced by quantum information science and the prospect of realizing quantum computation, but also opens up opportunities for combinations of different physical systems and research areas. 3. 3. Tunable superconducting resonators, subharmonic oscillations and manipulation of microwaves

    Author : Ida-Maria Svensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; circuit-QED; tunable superconducting resonators; subharmonic oscillations; parametric oscillations; microwave manipulation; frequency down-conversion; driven nonlinear systems; superconducting resonator; SQUID; tunable resonator;

    Abstract : In this thesis I present different types of manipulations of microwave fields using tunable superconducting resonators. A resonator is made tunable by adding one or more superconducting quantum interference devices, SQUIDs. The SQUID consists of a superconducting loop with two Josephson junctions and acts as a tunable nonlinear inductor. READ MORE

  4. 4. Controllable coupling of superconducting qubits and implementation of quantum gate protocols

    Author : Margareta Wallquist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Controllable Qubit-Coupling; Single Cooper-Pair Box; Josephson Effect; Quantum Gate; Superconducting Circuit; Quantum Computer; Qubit; Quantum Electrical Circuit;

    Abstract : The concept of a quantum computer was invented in the beginning of the 1980s as a quantum generalization of the reversible classical computer. After discoveries in the middle of the 1990s of quantum algorithms, which wouldsolve some problems considered intractable for classical computers, the field of quantum computing has developed rapidly. Abstract : In the last two decades, the field of circuit quantum electrodynamics, that studies the interaction between superconducting qubits and 1-dimensional waveguides, has been of great interest. It provides a great potential to build quantum devices, which are important for quantum computing, quantum communication and quantum information. READ MORE
