  1. 1. Fabrication and Characterization of Superconductive Coplanar Waveguide Resonators : Fabrication and Characterization of Superconductive Coplanar Waveguide Resonators

    Author : Adem Ergül; David B. Haviland; Vladimir Krasnov; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coplanar; Waveguide; Resonator; Superconductive; Fabrication; Characterization; Superconductivity; Supraledning;

    Abstract : The objective of this thesis is to evaluate a generic process for fabrication and characterization of the Superconductive coplanar waveguide (CPW) resonators. Superconductive CPW resonators with various lengths and shapes are designed to investigate their electrical and magnetic properties as well as resonance properties and sensitivities. READ MORE

  2. 2. Characteristic properties of two-dimensional superconductors close to the phase transition in zero magnetic field

    Author : Kateryna Medvedyeva; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Physics; Fysik; superconductor; two dimensions; phase transition; vortex; currentvoltage characteristics; complex conductivity; scaling; critical exponents; XY-type models; dynamics; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The main focus of this thesis lies on the critical properties of twodimensional (2D) superconductors in zero magnetic field. Simulations based on variants of the 2D XY model are shown to give characteristic features close to the phase transition which agree qualitatively with experimental data. READ MORE

  3. 3. Direct Write Technology of SIN Tunnel Junctions for Thermometry and Microwave Devices

    Author : Ernst Otto; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cryogenic; Cold-Electron Bolometer; direct write technology; SIN tunnel junction;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns development of SIN junction technology for thermometry and microwave detectors, as well as technology of a planar phase switch as a part of integratedmicrowave receiver.Cold-Electron Bolometer (CEB) is a sensitive detector of a microwave radiation, in which SIN tunnel junctions are used for temperature measurement of a nanoscale absorber in thesame way as in SIN thermometers. Abstract : The Thesis describes (i) the development of add-on instrumentation extending the capabilities of conventional NMR spectrometers and (ii) the application of the designed equipments and techniques for investigating various colloidal systems. The new equipments are: Novel designs of stopped-flow and temperature–jump inserts intended for conventional Bruker wide-bore superconductive magnets. READ MORE

  5. 5. Device Technology Based on High Temperature Superconductors and Microwave Breakdown in Gases

    Author : Martin Löfgren; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : distortion; penetration depth; surface resistance; transmit-receive switch; coupled-grain model; high-power; microwave; pulse; surface impedance; breakdown; propagation; modulator; air; superconductor; transmission line; resonator; coplanar waveguide; plasma;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with two separate fields of microwave technology. The first section treats microwave characterization and applications of high temperature superconducting (HTS) thin films, while the second section treats microwave breakdown in transmit-receive (TR) switches and in air. Within the first section, four main topics are adressed. READ MORE
