  1. 1. Supergravity, branes and field theory

    Author : Björn Brinne; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Supergravity; Quantum field theory; Supergravitation; Kvantfältteori;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  2. 2. Supersymmetric Geometries in Type IIA Supergravity

    Author : Christian von Schultz; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Flux compactifications; Supergravity; Supersymmetry; Superstring vacua;

    Abstract : Supergravity theory is any supersymmetric theory with a local supersymmetry parameter. This thesis undertakes the study of type IIA supergravity, a supergravity theory in ten dimensions associated with type IIA string theory. READ MORE

  3. 3. Supersymmetric Geometries in Type IIA Supergravity

    Author : Christian von Schultz; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Supersymmetry; Spinorial Geometry; Classification; IIA Supergravity;

    Abstract : This thesis is about supersymmetric geometries in type IIA supergravity and their classification using spinorial geometry. Appended is our first paper on the topic. There are four types of Killing spinors to treat, distinguished by their isotropy group. The appended paper treats the cases where the isotropy group is Spin(7) or Spin(7) ⋉ ℝ⁸. READ MORE

  4. 4. The Quest for M-theory

    Author : Ulf Gran; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : supersymmetry; solitons; gauge symmetry; M-theory; string theory; duality; p-branes; D-branes; superspace; supergravity;

    Abstract : In ten dimensions, there exist five consistent string theories and in eleven dimensions there is a unique supergravity theory. When trying to find the fundamental theory of nature this is clearly an "embarrassment of riches". In the mid 90s, however, it was discovered that these theories are all related via a kind of transformation called duality. READ MORE

  5. 5. Scattering Amplitudes in Supersymmetric Quantum Chromodynamics and Gravity

    Author : Gregor Kälin; Henrik Johansson; Lance J. Dixon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Scattering Amplitudes; Supersymmetric Gauge Theory; Supergravity; Quantum Chromodynamics; Physics and Astronomy specializing in Theoretical Physics; Fysik och astronomi med inriktning mot teoretisk fysik;

    Abstract : Quantum field theory is a theoretical framework for the description of nature in terms of fundamental particles, fields and their interactions. In the quantum regime, elementary scattering processes are observables in many experiments and studied in theoretical physics. READ MORE
