    Author : Susanna Cardell; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  2. 2. Vγ9Vδ2 T cells - response to P. falciparum-derived phosphoantigens and potential for use in colon cancer immunotherapy

    Author : Chenxiao Liu; Ingela Parmryd; Susanna Cardell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Abstract : Vγ9Vδ2 T cell is the dominant circulating γδ T cell subset in humans, can expand massively upon malaria infection and are cytotoxic to cancer cells. Vγ9Vδ2 T cells are stimulated by phosphoantigens, primarily isoprenoid pyrophosphates like isopentenyl pyrophosphate and (E)-4-hydroxy-3-methyl-but-2-enyl pyrophosphate (HMBPP). READ MORE

  3. 3. Function and Regulation of B-cell Subsets in Experimental Autoimmune Arthritis

    Author : Anna-Karin E. Palm; Sandra Kleinau; Susanna Cardell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; B cells; marginal zone; autoimmune arthritis; spleen; lymph node; antigen presentation; Fc gamma receptor IIb; complement receptors 1 and 2; mast cells; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär immunologi; Biology with specialization in Molecular Immunology;

    Abstract : B lymphocytes play a significant role in autoimmune arthritis, with their function stretching beyond autoantibody production to cytokine secretion and presentation of autoantigen. However, the involvement and activation of different B-cell subset in the autoimmune response is not fully clear. READ MORE

  4. 4. B cell deviations and type 1 diabetes in the NOD mouse

    Author : Mia Sundström; Kristina Lejon; Susanna Cardell; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; Autoimmunity; NOD mouse; Idd; TACI; Immune response; Immune complex; immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the insulin producing β-cells in the pancreatic islets of Langerhans are selectively attacked by the immune system. The β-cells are destroyed resulting in a reduced or eliminated insulin production, which in turn lead to a high blood glucose level. READ MORE

  5. 5. Anomalies in humoral immunity in the NOD mouse : contribution to the progression of type 1 diabetes

    Author : Radha Thyagarajan; Kristina Lejon; Per-Arne Oldenborg; Susanna Cardell; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 Diabetes; NOD mouse; B cells; IgE; TACI; BAFF; immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : The non-obese diabetic (NOD) mouse is widely used model Type 1 diabetes (T1D), a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by destruction of the insulin producing β cells in the islets of Langerhans by immune cells. The classical symptoms include increased glucose levels in urine and blood, frequent urination and enhanced thirst. READ MORE
