  2. 2. Bimetallic Palladium Catalysts for Methane Combustion in Gas Turbines

    Author : Katarina Persson; Sven Järås; Jon McCarty; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; activity; bimetal; catalytic combustion; DRIFTS; EDS; gas turbine; methane; morphology; palladium; platinum; pressure; PXRD; stability; TEM; TPO; XPS; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Catalytic combustion is a promising combustion technology for gas turbines, which results in ultra low emission levels of nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO) and unburned hydrocarbons (UHC). Due to the low temperature achieved in catalytic combustion almost no thermal NOx is formed. READ MORE

  3. 3. Evaporation and Heat-flux Aggregation in Heterogeneous Boreal Landscapes

    Author : Tony Persson; Sven Halldin; Dimitris Melas; Deliang Chen; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : The boreal forests represent 8 % of all forested areas on the earth and have a significant role in the control of greenhouse gases and an impact on global climate change. The main objective of this thesis is to increase the understanding of how evaporation and heat-flux processes in the boreal forest zone are affecting the regional and global climate. READ MORE

  4. 4. District heating in future Europe : Modelling expansion potentials and mapping heat synergy regions

    Author : Urban Persson; Sven Werner; Lars J. Nilsson; Sweden Gothenburg Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; district heating; energy efficiency; distribution capital cost; heat demand density; plot ratio; excess heat recovery; sequential energy supply; heat utilisation rate; effective width;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a set of methodologies and approaches to investigate and determine the extent by which district heating can contribute to improved energy system efficiency and reduced carbon dioxide emissions in future Europe. The main motivation for suggesting large-scale implementation of district heating as a structural energy efficiency measure to obtain these objectives originates essentially in the predicament that a majority of European buildings today remain highly dependent on fossil fuels to provide energy needed for space heating and hot water preparation. Abstract : The Member States of EU27 need to accelerate the integration of energy efficient technology solutions to reach the 20% energy efficiency target set for 2020. At current pace, projections indicate that only half of expected primary energy reductions will be reached. READ MORE
