1. Non-Spherical Particle Interaction in Duct and Jet Flow
Abstract : Wood waste is the most popular biomass recourse for many nations. Burned wood can, direct or indirect, release one of the greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide. The process can still be seen as a renewable source of energy since replanting of the trees and crops are consuming nearly the same amount of carbon dioxide through photosynthesis. READ MORE

2. Experimental study of turbulent flows through pipe bends
Abstract : This thesis deals with turbulent flows in 90 degree curved pipes of circular cross-section. The flow cases investigated experimentally are turbulent flow with and without an additional motion, swirling or pulsating, superposed on the primary flow. READ MORE

3. Inclusion Behaviour under a Swirl Flow in a Continuous Casting Process
Abstract : A swirl flow generated in a submerged entry nozzle (SEN) can effectively improve a flow pattern and heat transfer in a continuous casting process by using the methods of “swirl blade type” and “electromagnetic type”. In order to obtain a further in-depth understanding with respect to the effect of a swirl flow on a continuous casting process, the inclusion behaviour in a SEN and a mold was studied in the present work. 4. Numerical investigation of the flow and instabilities at part-load and speed-no-load in an axial turbine
Abstract : Global renewable energy requirements rapidly increase with the transition to a fossil-free society. As a result, intermittent energy resources, such as wind- and solar power, have become increasingly popular. However, their energy production varies over time, both in the short- and long term. 5. Inclusion Motion under a Swirl Flow in the Continuous Casting Process and Wire Feeding in the Induction Furnace
Abstract : The thesis includes the studies of two phenomena related to continuous casting. One subject is the inclusion motion in the submerged entry nozzle (SEN) and mold when using a swirl flow. The swirl flow is generated in a SEN by using an electromagnetic swirl flow generator (EMSFG). READ MORE
