  1. 1. Model catalysts studied by x-rays, visible and infrared light

    Author : Stefano Albertin; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High Energy Surface X-ray Diffraction; X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy; oxidation; Pd 100 ; PdO; Ir 100 ; IrO2; in-situ; operando; Surface Optical Reflectance;

    Abstract : This work is focused on the study of transition metal model catalysts for gas-phase heterogeneous catalysis, studied with light-based in-situ and operando techniques.Metallic model catalysts, such as Palladium (Pd) and Iridium (Ir) single crystals and in minor part deposited Rhodium (Rh), were studied using a combination of x-ray and non x-ray techniques. 2. 2. Probing Atomic Scale Structure and Catalytic Properties of Cobalt Oxide Model Catalysts

    Author : Alif Arman; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : catalysis; model systems; Co3O4 111 ; Co3O4 100 ; CoO 111 ; X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; Scanning tunneling microscopy; Fysicumarkivet A:2017:Arman;

    Abstract : Cobalt oxides are known to be active catalysts for a number of chemical reactions, but very little is known about the atomic scale processesresponsible for the activity. The research presented in this thesis is focused on obtaining an atomic scale understanding of the chemistry of wellcharacterizedcobalt oxide model catalyst surfaces consisting of pristine and defective CoO and Co3O4 thin films with the (111) and (100)terminations supported by Ag(100), Ir(100), and Au(111) single crystal surfaces. 3. 3. Molecules and Clusters on Oxide Surfaces

    Author : Evren Ataman; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In this thesis X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy,and density functional theory have been used to study the fundamental interactions between model oxidesurfaces and either organic, mixed organic/inorganic, or purely inorganic adsorbate layers. As model oxidesurfaces have served the rutile TiO2(110) surface and an in-situ grown iron oxide film supported by a Pt(111)surface. READ MORE

  4. 4. Adsorption of Molecules on Metal Surfaces Studied by High Resolution Core Level Photoemission

    Author : Andreas Beutler; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Core level photoemission; molecules; adsorption; single crystal surfaces; metals; metal films; vibrations of adsorbed molecules; surface ordering; carbon monoxide; photoelectron spectroscopy; surface diffusion; Atomic and molecular physics; Atom- och molekylärfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Beutler;

    Abstract : Various aspects of the adsorption of molecules on metal surfaces have been studied making use of different properties of high resolution core level photoemission. A thorough investigation has been performed of the ordering and the site occupancy of CO overlayers on Rh(111). CO has been shown to adsorb in on-top and three-fold-hollow sites. READ MORE

  5. 5. In situ structural studies and gas phase visualization of model catalysts at work

    Author : Sara Blomberg; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : CO-oxidation; model catalysts; AP-XPS; PLIF; Pd; Rh; PdAg; Fysicumarkivet A:2017:Blomberg;

    Abstract : This thesis reports on in situ structural studies relevant to a catalytic surface during CO oxidation. The materials that have been studied are palladium, rhodium and an alloy of palladium and silver, with applications in emission cleaning by catalytic converters in vehicles. READ MORE
