    Abstract : The serine protease tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) is the main fibrinolytic enzyme in the vascular system, and thus plays a critical role in the dissolution of thrombi. In recent years, researchers have focused on its role within the brain, where t-PA has been shown to participate in a number of physiological and pathophysiological processes, including various aspects of synaptic plasticity and neurodegeneration.
