31. Peptide-tagged proteins in aqueous two-phase systems
Abstract : This thesis deals with proteins containing peptide tags for improved partitioning in aqueous two-phase systems. Qualitatively the peptide-tagged protein partitioning could be predicted from peptide data, i.e. partitioning trends found for peptides were also found for the peptide-tagged proteins. READ MORE

32. Regulation of antibody production in immunocompromised patients
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to study B-cell function and the regulation of specific antibody (Abs) production in immunocompromised individuals. As models, we have studied children with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) and patients with IRV-I infection. READ MORE

33. Electron Transport in Nanowire Quantum Devices
Abstract : This thesis focuses on electron transport in semiconductor InAs/InP and InSb nanowire quantum devices. However, first the temperature dependence of classical charge transport in InSb nanowire field-effect transistors, FETs, is characterized, using InAs nanowire FETs as a reference. READ MORE

34. Studies of immune responses to cell surface proteins of Helicobacter pylori and Borrelia burgdorferi by enzyme immunoassay and immunoblotting
Abstract : Helicobacter pylori and Borrelia burgdorferi s.l. can cause chronic infections by evading the immune system. These two human pathogens express a number of immunogenic cell surface proteins. READ MORE

35. Cobalamin/folate status and its relation to cognition and behaviour in psychogeriatric patients
Abstract : The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic potentials of four different biochemical markers, serum cobalamin, blood folate, plasma homocysteine and serum methylmalonic acid for diagnosis of cobalamin/folate deficiency in a psychogeriatric population. The second aim was to investigate the relationship between these markers and various clinical and functional parameters of the nervous system in patients with dementia disorders. READ MORE
