  1. 1. Procedural and Declarative Memory in Children with Developmental Disorders of Language and Literacy

    Author : Martina Hedenius; Margareta Jennische; Jonas Persson; Michael T Ullman; Elena Plante; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Specific Language Impairment; Developmental Dyslexia; Procedural memory; Declarative memory; Implicit sequence learning;

    Abstract : The procedural deficit hypothesis (PDH) posits that a range of language, cognitive and motor impairments associated with specific language impairment (SLI) and developmental dyslexia (DD) may be explained by an underlying domain-general dysfunction of the procedural memory system. In contrast, declarative memory is hypothesized to remain intact and to play a compensatory role in the two disorders. READ MORE

  2. 2. On Active Suspension in Rail Vehicles

    Author : Alireza Qazizadeh; Sebastian Stichel; Rickard Persson; T. X. Mei; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; active suspension; ride comfort; wear; skyhook control; H_infinity control; two-axle rail vehicle; safety; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering;

    Abstract : The topic of this PhD thesis is active suspension in rail vehicles whichis usually realized through sensors, controllers and actuation components.A well established example of an active suspension is the tiltingcontrol system used to tilt the carbody in curves to reduce centrifugalacceleration felt by passengers. 3. 3. Investigating histidine-rich glycoprotein and T cell-specific adaptor as potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets

    Author : Tor Persson Skare; Lena Claesson-Welsh; Mats Hellström; Elin Sjöberg; Jonas Fuxe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Histidine-rich glycoprotein; T cell-specifik adaptor; Lymphoma; Glioblastoma; Vascular permeability;

    Abstract : The endothelial cell (EC), the most important cell type in blood vessels, lines the vessel wall and provides vessel integrity. EC function is tightly regulated, and its dysregulation is a key element in many diseases including cardiovascular disease, cancer and several diseases of the eye. READ MORE

  4. 4. Strings as Sigma Models and in the Tensionless Limit

    Author : Jonas Persson; Ulf Lindström; Joseph Minahan; Fawad Hassan; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Theoretical physics; Theoretical Physics; String Theory; Tensionless Strings; Supergravity Backgrounds; Plane Wave; Extended Supersymmetry; Non-Linear Sigma Models; Generalized Complex Geometry; T-duality; Teoretisk fysik;

    Abstract : This thesis considers two different aspects of string theory, the tensionless limit of the string and supersymmetric sigma models with extended supersymmetry. First, the tensionless limit is used to find a IIB supergravity background generated by a tensionless string. The background has the characteristics of a gravitational shock-wave. READ MORE

  5. 5. Glioblastoma multiforme in the microscope: Diagnostic features of importance for prognosis and treatment

    Author : Annette Persson; Tumörmikromiljö; []
