  1. 1. Characterization of Endocrine Cells and Tumours in the Stomach

    Author : Apostolos V. Tsolakis; Eva T. Janson; Mats Stridsberg; Guida M. Portela-Gomes; Ola Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Oncology; ECL cells; ghrelin cells; gastric endocrine tumours; VMAT-2; ghrelin; obestatin; HDC; U-MeImAA; Onkologi;

    Abstract : Enterochromaffin-like (ECL) and ghrelin cells, in the human gastric mucosa and in gastric endocrine tumours (GETs), were subclassified with respect to immunohistochemical reaction vs. vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT-2), ghrelin/obestatin, and histidine decarboxylase (HDC). 2. 2. Unconventional T cells in colon adenocarcinomas

    Author : William Rodin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Unconventional T cells; MAIT cells; γδ T cells; Colorectal cancer; Tumour immunity;

    Abstract : Many factors influence the initiation and growth of tumours. The infiltration and activity of immune cells in the tumour microenvironment are widely recognised as key factors affecting the clinical outcome of cancer. READ MORE

  3. 3. Cholesterol in T cells : homeostasis, plasma membrane organization and signaling

    Author : Saleemulla Mahammad; Ingela Parmryd; Thomas Harder; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plasma membrane; T cells; Cholesterol; Lipid rafts; Membrane organization; Cholesterol homeostasis; cholesteryl esters; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Abstract : The plasma membrane of eukaryotic cells contains cholesterol and glycosphingolipids enriched nanodomains known as lipid rafts; which are believed to exist in a liquid ordered (lo) state. Methyl-beta-cyclodextrin (MBCD) is used to deplete cellular cholesterol and a widespread assumption is that MBCD preferentially targets cholesterol in lipid rafts. READ MORE

  4. 4. T-cell responses to Helicobacter pylori in humans and a possible role of regulatory T cells

    Author : Anna Lundgren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Helicobacter pylori; mucosal immunology; stomach; duodenum; asymptomatic; duodenal ulcer; gastric adenocarcinoma; T cells; regulatory T cells; dendritic cells; T-cell recruitment;

    Abstract : Helicobacter pylori colonize the stomach and areas of gastric metaplasia in the duodenum. The bacteria induce both local and systemic immune responses, but despite this, the infection normally persists for life and causes chronic gastritis in all infected subjects and peptic ulcers or gastric cancer in 10-20% of infected individuals. 5. 5. Approaches to analyses of cytotoxic cells. And studies of their role in H. pylori infection

    Author : Josef Azem; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Helicobacter pylori; mucosal immunology; stomach; duodenum; asymptomatic; duodenal ulcer; gastric adenocarcinoma; NK cells; T cells; B cells; dendritic cells; cytotoxic;

    Abstract : Helicobacter pylori infection causes chronic gastritis that may progress to peptic ulcers or gastric adenocarcinoma and thereby cause major world-wide health problems. Previous studies have shown that CD4+ T cells and the production of the cytokine IFN- × are important components of the immune response to H. pylori in humans. READ MORE
