  1. 6. Molecular genetics of B- and T-lymphocyte development

    Author : Ingela Wikström; Dan Holmberg; Inga-Lill Mårtensson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; lymphocyte development; Dmu protein; transcription factor; bHLH; E2-2; T cell; B cell; marginal zone; Medical genetics; Medicinsk genetik;

    Abstract : Lymphocytes are essential for the generation of specific immunity. Development of B cells in the bone marrow and T cells in the thymus have several analogous features, and are tightly regulated processes. Even though there is an increasing amount of information concerning lymphopoiesis, a lot of questions remain. READ MORE

  2. 7. Development of the gastrointestinal tract in young mammals : Effects of enteral provocation with protease or phytohaemagglutinin in neonatal rats

    Author : Ester Arevalo Sureda; Funktionell zoologi; []
    Keywords : gut; Intestine; Pancreas; development; precocious; protease; PHA; enterocytes; permeability; endocytosis; IgG; FcRn; Blimp1; T-lymphocyte; passive immunity; altricial; neonatal; suckling; athymic; rat; immunohistochemistry IHC ;

    Abstract : The rat, as an altritial species, is born with an immature gastrointestinal tract and intestinal barrier function, which is highly absorptive to milk-borne bioactive molecules that can pass undigested and reach the general circulation of the suckling newborn. This passage occurs by the neonatal-Fc-receptor (FcRn) binding and trancytosis of immunoglobulin G in the proximal small intestine (SI) and by the highly endocytic vacuolated enterocytes non-selectively in the distal SI. 3. 8. Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis - A study, with emphasis on host genetics, oral microbiota composition, and immunoregulatory networks

    Author : Maria Bankvall; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Aphthous stomatitis; Oral mucosa; Oral medicine; Genome-wide association study; Genetic linkage; Association; Genetic polymorphism; Microbiota; Restriction fragment length polymorphism; Antigen-presenting cell; T-lymphocyte; Lymph node; Flow cytometry;

    Abstract : Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is one of the most common oral mucosal lesions. The aetiology is unknown and currently there is no consensus regarding suitable treatment regimens. READ MORE

  4. 9. Transforming Growth Factor-b, Regulatory functions on normal lymphocytes and tumor outgrowth Regulatory functions on normal lymphocytes and tumor outgrowth

    Author : Åsa Schiött; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TGF-b; monocyte; rat; costimulation; Th2; ERK; tumor; TIL; Immunology; serology; Immunologi; transplantation; T-lymphocyte; serologi;

    Abstract : Transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-b) is a well-characterised growth regulatory factor, which acts on most cell types. This thesis has focused on the regulatory roles of TGF-b on normal lymphocytes. One interesting finding is that TGF-b acts both costimulatory and inhibitory on T-lymphocytes. READ MORE

  5. 10. Molecular Monitoring of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Treated with Imatinib Mesylate

    Author : Yuan Wei; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : CML; imatinib; BCR-ABL; apoptosis; mutation; T-lymphocyte;

    Abstract : The BCR-ABL fusion gene product is a constitutively activated tyrosine kinase, which is fundamental in the pathogenesis of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Imatinib mesylate (imatinib, Glivec® or Gleevec®), a small molecule inhibitor of the BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase, is now the first-line treatment for all newly diagnosed chronic phase CML patients.
