    Abstract : Background: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia. In order to have effect of future disease-modifying therapies for AD, the disease must be identified early, before the patients have developed dementia. Many patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) have prodromal AD, but other causes for the syndrome are common. READ MORE

  5. 5. Cognitive profiles of vascular and neurodegenerative MCI

    Author : Arto Nordlund; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : neuropsychology; MCI; Alzheimer s disease; vascular dementia;

    Abstract : The objective of the thesis was to investigate the cognitive profiles of different types of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and follow their course over time. Would it be possible to differentiate between ?benign? and ?malign? forms of MCI, and identify different dementia disorders in their prodromal stages by means of cognitive profiles? In study I consecutive MCI subjects (N=112) were assessed with a neuropsyhological test battery of 21 tests. READ MORE
