  1. 1. Space Geodesy Techniques: An Experimental and Theoretical Study of Antenna Related Error Sources

    Author : R. T. Kenneth Jaldehag; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; reflector antennas; signal scattering; very long baseline interferometry VLBI ; signal multipath; space geodesy; GPS error sources; geodetic networks; Global Positioning System GPS ; postglacial rebound; choke-ring antennas;

    Abstract : This thesis presents work associated with antenna related error sources, as well as antenna design, in space geodesy utilizing the techniques of Very-Long-Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) and the Global Positioning System (GPS). Geodetic VLBI uses large radio telescopes, often in global networks observing at least a few times per year. READ MORE

    Abstract : This thesis describes various aspects of the development of a multi-disciplinary aero engine conceptual design tool, TERA2020 (Techno-economic, Environmental and Risk Assessment for 2020), based on an explicit algorithm that considers: engine performance, engine aerodynamic and mechanical design, aircraft design and performance, emissions prediction and environmental impact, engine and airframe noise, and production, maintenance and direct operating costs.As part of this research effort, a newly-derived semi-empirical NOx correlation for modern rich-burn single-annular combustors is proposed. 4. 4. Capillary electrophoresis mass spectrometry applied to structural proteomics and small molecule analysis

    Author : Jordan Aerts; Erik T. Jansson; Per E. Andrén; Petr Man; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Capillary Electrophoresis Mass Spectrometry; Hydrogen Deuterium Exchange Mass Spectrometry; Enantioselective Separations; Drugs of Abuse; Analytical Chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytisk farmaceutisk kemi; Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot analytisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Analytical Chemistry; Biology with specialization in Structural Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot strukturbiologi;

    Abstract : Capillary electrophoresis with mass spectrometric (CE–MS) detection offers a separation method without equal in terms of flexibility, utility, and cost efficiency. Here we demonstrate precisely this through the application of several laboratory-built CE–MS instruments for the separation of brain metabolites in non-primates, enantioselective separations of synthetic anesthetic metabolites in fractionated pony urine, application in structural proteomics workflows, and identification of exogenous alkaloid biotransformationproducts in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). 5. 5. Human exposure to perfluoroalkyl acids

    Author : Robin Vestergren; Ian T. Cousins; Stuart Harrad; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : Perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids (PFCAs) and perfluoroalkane sulfonic acids (PFSAs) are persistent organic contaminants which have been globally measured in human serum samples at low μg L-1 concentrations. One hypothesis, the so-called "indirect hypothesis", postulates that exposure to precursor compounds is responsible for the presence of PFCAs and PFSAs in human serum. READ MORE
