  1. 1. On Active Suspension in Rail Vehicles

    Author : Alireza Qazizadeh; Sebastian Stichel; Rickard Persson; T. X. Mei; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; active suspension; ride comfort; wear; skyhook control; H_infinity control; two-axle rail vehicle; safety; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering;

    Abstract : The topic of this PhD thesis is active suspension in rail vehicles whichis usually realized through sensors, controllers and actuation components.A well established example of an active suspension is the tiltingcontrol system used to tilt the carbody in curves to reduce centrifugalacceleration felt by passengers. 2. 2. 3D Magnetic Photonic Crystals : Synthesis and Characterization

    Author : Mei Fang; K.Venkat Rao; Lyubov Belova; Rajeev Ahuja; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; magnetic photonic crystals; photonic band gaps; Fe3O4 nanoparticles; silica; Optical physics; Optisk fysik; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the synthesis methods and the characterizations of magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles, silica spheres with Fe3O4 nanoparticles embedded, and three dimensional magnetic photonic crystals (MPCs) prepared from the spheres. The structure, material composition, magnetic and optical properties, photonic band gaps (PBGs), as well as how these properties depend on the concentration of the magnetic nanoparticles, are investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID), Faraday rotation (FR) and optical spectrophotometers. 3. 3. Novel Insight into Thymidylate Kinase: Biochemical Characterization of the Human and Zebrafish Enzymes

    Author : Jun Mei Hu Frisk; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Deoxythymidine triphosphate (dTTP or T) is one of the four building blocks for DNA. In dTTP synthesis, the catalysis of dTMP to dTDP, is mediated by one known enzyme only: Thymidylate kinase (TMPK, EC 2.7.4. READ MORE
