1. Epidemiological and clinical aspects of T-cell lymphoma
Abstract : T-cell lymphoma (TCL) is a rare group of malignancies and one of the important aims in this thesis has been to broaden the general knowledge of TCL with descriptive patient data. Main focus has been to examine prognosticfactors for overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS), and to evaluate different treatment approaches and follow-up (FU) after treatment. 2. Tools for design, interactive simulation, and visualization of object-oriented models in scientific computing
Abstract : Mathematical models used in scientific computing are becoming large and complex. In order to handle the size and complexity, the models should be better structured (using objectorientation) and visualized (using advanced user interfaces). Visualization is a difficult task, requiring a great deal of effort from scientific computing specialists. READ MORE

3. Analysis of viral and cellular gene expression patterns in cells latently infected with EBV by suppression subtractive hybridization
Abstract : Epstein-Barr virus is a ubiquitous γ-herpes virus and causes the self-limiting lymphoproliferative disease, called infectious mononucleosis. Its presence is associated with several malignancies, including Burkitt lymphoma, gastric cancer and other malignant diseases. READ MORE

4. Dynamic Wetting of Solid Surfaces, Influence of Surface Structures and Surface Active Polymers
Abstract : The effect of surface structures on the dynamics of wetting was investigated through measurements of the dynamic contact angle and spreading velocity of oil droplets spreading over surfaces with parallel and gridlike V-shaped channels. A rim of liquid was observed to spread out in the channels ahead of the dropfront after a short time of spreading (seconds). READ MORE

5. Weldability and Testing Methodology in Precipitation Hardening Superalloys
Abstract : Usable weldability data is desired in the manufacturing industry, especially within the aerospace industry where fabrication of structural jet engine components are realized. Welding of precipitation hardening superalloys such as Waspaloy®, Alloy 718, ATI® 718Plus™ and Haynes® 282® in particular can lead to solidification cracking in the fusion zone, liquation cracking in the heat affected zone and/or to solid state cracking.
