  1. 1. Computational Aeroacoustics Based on Large Eddy Simulation and Acoustic Analogies

    University dissertation from KFS AB

    Author : Mihai Mihaescu; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2005]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Computational Aeroacoustics; Turbulent Flows; Large Eddy Simulation; Acooustic Analogies; Acoustic Source Terms; Inhomogeneous Wave Equation; Acoustic Boundary Conditions; Mechanical engineering; hydraulics; plasma; Technological sciences; Teknik; fluiddynamik; plasmas; Gaser; fluid dynamics; Gases; LES; vacuum technology; vibration and acoustic engineering; hydraulik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik;

    Abstract : The thesis presents a numerical method developed by the author and its applications for computing the generated sound by an unsteady flow field and its propagation. The full equations of motion for compressible and unsteady flows describe both flow field and sound generation and propagation. READ MORE

  2. 2. On the Analysis of Energy Efficient Aircraft Engines

    University dissertation from ; Chalmers tekniska högskola; Gothenburg

    Author : Oskar Thulin; [2017]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Performance modelling; Aero engine; Turbofan; Aircraft engine; Installed propulsion; Ultra high bypass ratio; Exergy analysis; Engine weight estimate; Variable area fan nozzle; Multiple pivoting flaps; Translating cowls;

    Abstract : Aero engine performance analysis is highly multidimensional using various measures of component performance such as turbomachinery and mechanical efficiencies, and pressure loss coefficients. Using conventional performance analysis, relying on only the laws of thermodynamics, it is possible to understand how the performance parameters affect the component performance, but it is difficult to directly compare the magnitude of various loss sources. Abstract : Methods for reducing engine-out emissions are urgently needed to mitigate climate change and air pollution. In diesel engines, the quality of fuel-air mixing and the subsequent combustion process strongly affect fuel efficiency and engine-out emissions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Assessment of human swallowing using in-vivo and in-vitro approaches

    University dissertation from ; Chalmers tekniska högskola; Gothenburg

    Author : Muhammad Waqas; [2017]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; in-vitro manometery; dysphagia; In-vivo analysis; microstructure analysis; Ultrasound viscometry; In-vitro simulations; Bolus Rheology; extensional rheology;

    Abstract : Texture modification is the most vital strategy to manage dysphagia: a condition in which food and beverages are difficult to swallow. Typically thickeners in the form of starch or gums are added to the food to increase the viscosity and thereby reduce the speed of bolus flow. READ MORE

  5. 5. Flow over rough surfaces, and conjugate heat transfer, in engineering applications

    University dissertation from ; Chalmers tekniska högskola; Gothenburg

    Author : Bercelay Niebles Atencio; [2018]

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on two important topics in the field of fluid mechanics and heat transfer that were treated separately. On the one hand, the flow over rough surfaces, which is not yet completely understood, despite of the fact that it has an important implication in many engineering applications, especially in the naval industry for ships and boats because the friction drag caused by fouling, antifouling coatings and roughness in general impacts the fuel consumption and toxic emissions to the atmosphere.
