21. Attenuation of hand-held machine vibrations. Application of non-linear tuned vibration absorber
Abstract : Vibration injury in the hand-arm system from vibrating hand-held machines is one of the most common occupational health injuries and causes severe and often chronic nerve and vascular injuries to the operator. The objective with this study is to contribute to reduce hand-arm vibration injuries, first by developing methods of redesigning machines that will lower their vibration level and second to study how high frequency vibrations (HFV) above 1250 Hz effect the finger tissue which are not included in the current standard for risk evaluation. 22. A Sound Approach Toward a Mobility Aid for Blind and Low-Vision Individuals
Abstract : Reduced independent mobility of blind and low-vision individuals (BLVIs) cause considerable societal cost, burden on relatives, and reduced quality of life for the individuals, including increased anxiety, depression symptoms, need of assistance, risk of falls, and mortality. Despite the numerous electronic travel aids proposed since at least the 1940’s, along with ever-advancing technology, the mobility issues persist. READ MORE

23. Calibration and Modelling of Adipose Tissue Under Impact Loading
Abstract : Vehicular injury is one of the main reasons for traumatic injuries. Finite Element HumanBody Models (FEHBM) have become very popular to assess car crashes and the subsequentinjuries. It provides the possibility to predict stress and strain values in tissue level byrepresenting anatomical structures in details. READ MORE

24. Muscle Responses in Dynamic Events. Volunteer experiments and numerical modelling for the advancement of human body models for vehicle safety assessment
Abstract : Fatalities and injuries to car occupants in motor vehicle crashes continue to be aserious global socio-economic issue. Advanced safety systems that provide improvedoccupant protection and crash mitigation have the potential to reduce this burden. READ MORE

25. Towards Heart Rate Variability Tools in P-Health : Pervasive, Preventive, Predictive and Personalized
Abstract : Heart rate variability (HRV) has received much attention lately. It has been shown that HRV can be used to monitor the autonomic nervous system and to detect autonomic dysfunction, especially vagal dysfunction. Reduced HRV is associated with several diseases and has also been suggested as a predictor of poor outcomes and sudden cardiac death. READ MORE
