  1. 1. Advancing the life cycle energy optimisation methodology

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Hamza Bouchouireb; KTH.; KTH.; [2019]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; life cycle energy; vehicle design; optimisation; functional conflicts; livscykelenergi; fordonsdesign; optimering; tvär-funktionella konflikter; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering;

    Abstract : The Life Cycle Energy Optimisation (LCEO) methodology aims at finding a design solution that uses a minimum amount of cumulative energy demand over the different phases of the vehicle's life cycle, while complying with a set of functional constraints. This effectively balances trade-offs, and therewith avoids sub-optimal shifting between the energy demand for the cradle-to-production of materials, operation of the vehicle, and end-of-life phases. Abstract : Train transportation is a vital part of the transportation system of today anddue to its safe and environmental friendly concept it will be even more impor-tant in the future. The speeds of trains have increased continuously and withhigher speeds the aerodynamic effects become even more important. READ MORE

  3. 3. Wheel-rail contact modelling in vehicle dynamics simulation

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Matin Shahzamanian Sichani; KTH.; KTH.; [2013]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wheel-rail contact; non-elliptic contact; vehicle-track interaction; rail vehicle dynamics; rolling contact; MBS; virtual penetration; Järnvägsgruppen - Fordonsteknik; Järnvägsgruppen - Fordonsteknik; Järnvägsgruppen - Tribologi; The KTH Railway Group - Tribology;

    Abstract : The wheel-rail contact is at the core of all research related to vehicle-track interaction. This tiny interface governs the dynamic performance of rail vehicles through the loads it transmits and, like any high stress concentration zone, it is subjected to serious damage phenomena.
