  1. 1. Analysis of Flow Structures in Wake Flows for Train Aerodynamics

    Author : Tomas W. Muld; KTH.; [2010]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Train Aerodynamics; Slipstream; Wake Flow; Detached-EddySimulation; Proper Orthogonal Decomposition; Koopman Mode Decomposi-tion; Surface-mounted Cube; Aerodynamic Train Model; TECHNOLOGY Engineering mechanics Fluid mechanics; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Teknisk mekanik Strömningsmekanik; TECHNOLOGY Engineering mechanics Vehicle engineering; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Teknisk mekanik Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : Train transportation is a vital part of the transportation system of today anddue to its safe and environmental friendly concept it will be even more impor-tant in the future. The speeds of trains have increased continuously and withhigher speeds the aerodynamic effects become even more important. READ MORE

  2. 2. Wheel-rail contact modelling in vehicle dynamics simulation

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Matin Shahzamanian Sichani; KTH.; KTH.; [2013]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wheel-rail contact; non-elliptic contact; vehicle-track interaction; rail vehicle dynamics; rolling contact; MBS; virtual penetration; Järnvägsgruppen - Fordonsteknik; Järnvägsgruppen - Fordonsteknik; Järnvägsgruppen - Tribologi; The KTH Railway Group - Tribology;

    Abstract : The wheel-rail contact is at the core of all research related to vehicle-track interaction. This tiny interface governs the dynamic performance of rail vehicles through the loads it transmits and, like any high stress concentration zone, it is subjected to serious damage phenomena. 4. 4. Sound propagation from sustainable ground vehicles from aeroacoustic sources to urban noise

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Nicolas Pignier; KTH.; KTH.; [2015]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sound propagation; sound generation; ground vehicle; aeroacoustics; aerodynamics; Kirchhoff approximation; detached eddy simulation; Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings; ljudutberdning; ljudalstring; markfordon; aeroakustik; aerodynamik; Kirchhoff approximation; detached eddy simulation; Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Abstract : Transportation is the main source of environmental noise in Europe, with an estimated 125 million people affected by excessive noise levels from road traffic, causing a burden of noise related diseases and having a substantial economic impact on society. In order to reduce exposure to high levels of traffic noise, two approaches are the topic of extensive research: preventing sound from propagating from roads and railways using for example noise barriers, and reducing the sources of noise themselves. Abstract : Lightweight design in rail vehicles has been important for quite some time. Structures have been optimised to fulfill their purpose and cut unnecessary weight to reach allowable axle loads. Classically this is done by using steel, thin-walled structures, throughout the car body, or, alternatively, power-pressed aluminum profiles. READ MORE
