1. A Dynamic View of Melodic Organization and Performance : Perception of Structure and Emotional Expression in Music
Abstract : Psychology of music has shown renewed interest in how music expresses emotion to listeners. However, there is an obvious lack of research on how interactions between musical factors such as harmony, rhythm, melodic contour, loudness, and articulation may affect perceived emotion. READ MORE

2. Structure-Control of the Rheological Behaviour of Particulate Gels
Abstract : The focus of this thesis is the relation between the rheological and structural properties of mixed particulate gels, based on β-lactoglobulin, determined under both dynamic and static conditions. Rheological characteristics were recorded during formation of the gels, on set gels and during deformation and fracture of the gels, using viscoelastic measurements in shear and in compression and fracture mechanics in tension. 3. Resin transfer moulded composite materials : processing, structure, property relationships
Abstract : This thesis contains analysis of the performance of polymer composites manufactured by resin transfer moulding (RTM). The thesis consists of six papers, where the first two deals with the tensile strength of composites reinforced with randomly oriented glass fibres, which still is the most common reinforcement in RTM manufacturing. 4. Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy Studies at the Air-Liquid Interface
Abstract : In this thesis the structure and hydration of small organic and amphipilic compounds adsorbed at the air-liquid interface, have been studied using the nonlinear optical technique Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy (VSFS). The second order nature of the sum frequency process makes this technique particularly surface sensitive and very suitable for interfacial studies, as molecules at the surface can be distinguished even in the presence of a vast excess of the same molecules in the bulk. 5. Classical and Quantum Descriptions of Proteins, Lipids and Membranes
Abstract : In this thesis the properties of proteins and membranes are studied by molecular dynamics simulations. The subject is decomposed into parts addressing free energy calculations in proteins, mechanical inclusion models for lipid bilayers, phase transitions and structural correlations in lipid bilayers and atomistic lipid bilayer models.
