  1. 11. Towards Usable Transparency via Individualisation

    Author : Patrick Murmann; Simone Fischer-Hübner; Sebastian Pape; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Data transparency; General Data Protection Regulation GDPR ; Human-centred design; Human-computer interaction HCI ; Information privacy; Intervenability; Mobile health mhealth ; Transparency-enhancing tool TET ; Usability; Computer Science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : The General Data Protection Regulation grants data subjects the legal rights of transparency and intervenability. Ex post transparency provides users of data services with insight into how their personal data have been processed, and potentially clarifies what consequences will or may arise due to the processing of their data. 2. 12. Information at Your Fingertips : Facilitating Usable Transparency via Privacy Notifications

    Author : Patrick Murmann; Simone Fischer-Hübner; Anna Ståhlbröst; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; General Data Protection Regulation GDPR ; Human-centred design; Human-computer interaction HCI ; Information privacy; Intervenability; Mobile health mhealth ; Personal health tracking; Privacy notification; Transparency; Transparency-enhancing tool TET ; Usability; Computer Science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : The General Data Protection Regulation stipulates legal rights of transparency and intervenability. Transparency provides data subjects with insight into how their personal data have been processed, clarifying what consequences will or may arise due to the processing of their data, whereas intervenability enables them to intervene in the process. 3. 13. Antibiotic resistance in Lactobacillus reuteri and Lactobacillus plantarum

    Author : Maria Egervärn; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) may act as reservoirs of antibiotic resistance genes that can be transferred via the food chain or within the gastrointestinal tract to pathogenic bacteria. This thesis provides data required for assessing the potential risk of using antibiotic resistant strains of the LAB species Lactobacillus reuteri and Lactobacillus plantarum as food processing aids or probiotics. 4. 14. Molecular mechanisms of metal toxicity in neuronal cells

    Author : Annamaria Rossi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Modification of signal transduction by toxic agents can affect cell metabolism and physiological activity, impair cell capacity to adequately respond to hormones and growth stimuli and consequently compromise cell survival. This thesis describes studies on the interactions between toxic metals, at concentrations comparable to environmental exposure, and Ca2+ signalling in neuronal cells. READ MORE

  5. 15. Photon Upconversion through Triplet-Triplet Annihilation: Towards Higher Efficiency and Solid State Applications

    Author : Damir Dzebo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; solar energy conversion; triplet-triplet annihilation; energy transfer; fluorescence anisotropy; anti-stokes; photon upconversion; excited state; porphyrins; photochemistry; photophysics; delayed fluorescence; dendrimers; anthracene; oligomers; spectroscopy;

    Abstract : The sun is the only renewable energy source that can accommodate humanity’s energyneeds today and in the foreseeable future. The sunlight reaching the planet’s surfaceis filtrated through the atmosphere, reducing its UV-light intensity in the 300-400 nmrange, which indeed can be harmful to life as we know it in too large doses.
