6. The Analysis of Thermal Power Stations and their Interaction with the Power System using Simulator Test Methods
Abstract : This thesis describes a new method of testing power stations with regard to their frequency control behaviour and analyses results obtained using this new method. The test concept is based on that the power station unit to be tested remains synchronized onto its normal strong network, whereas the frequency control behaviour is set up to be that of the conditions if the unit was working on a much smaller network, using a computer based simulator system and feeding simulated control signals to the input of the units frequency control system. 7. Hybrid Solar Gas-Turbine Power Plants : A Thermoeconomic Analysis
Abstract : The provision of a sustainable energy supply is one of the most importantissues facing humanity at the current time, and solar thermal power hasestablished itself as one of the more viable sources of renewable energy. Thedispatchable nature of this technology makes it ideally suited to forming thebackbone of a future low-carbon electricity system. READ MORE

8. On the Analysis and Fault-Diagnosis Tools for Small-Scale Heat and Power Plants
Abstract : The deregulation of the electricity market drives utilities and independent power producers to operate heat and power plants as profit centers. In order to keep the economic margins on the credit side, the preferred measures have been to improve the electrical efficiency through changes in the hardware and boost the overall efficiency through e.g. READ MORE

9. Effects of Irradiation and Thermal Ageing on the Nanoscale Chemistry of Steel Welds
Abstract : Structural materials of nuclear power plants degrade during operation due to thermal ageing and irradiation from the reactor core. Effects on the materials are an increase in hardness and tensile strength, and a decrease in ductility and fracture toughness, i. e. embrittlement. READ MORE

10. Dynamics of large-scale fluidized bed combustion plants
Abstract : Fluidized bed combustion (FBC) plants are widely used in energy systems across the world for the thermochemical conversion of solid fuels, and are especially suitable for low-rank fuels (a category to which renewable solid fuels belong). FBC plants are traditionally operated for base-load electricity production and for heat production, both of which processes are characterized by steady and stable operation. READ MORE
