11. Pressure-Induced Amorphization and Distinct Amorphous States of Clathrate Hydrates
Abstract : This thesis summarizes a study on the pressure-induced amorphization (PIA) and structures of amorphous states of clathrate hydrates (CHs).PIA involves the transition of a crystalline material into an amorphous solid in response of mechanical compression at temperatures well below the melting point. 12. Platelet function and thrombin generation in ischemic stroke : clinical correlates and prognostic importance
Abstract : Platelet function is central to atherothombotic diseases and antiplatelet agents prevent non-cardioembolic ischemic stroke (IS). Individual differences in platelet reactivity may limit the response to antiplatelet treatment, leading to so-called high on-treatment platelet reactivity (HPR). READ MORE

13. On certain genetic and metabolic risk factors for carotid stenosis and stroke
Abstract : The present study evaluated genetic and metabolic factors influencing the risk of acute cerebrovascular disease (CVD) and internal carotid artery stenosis (ICA stenosis) in a Swedish community. The threonine (T) containing protein of the FABP2 A54T gene polymorphism has a greater affinity for long chain fatty acids (FFAs) than the alanine (A) containing protein. READ MORE

14. Comorbidity and vascular risk factors associated with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus : the INPH-CRasH Study
Abstract : Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (INPH) is a dementia treatable by insertion of a cerebrospinal fluid shunt. It has been suggested that INPH has similar pathophysiological mechanisms as cerebrovascular disease, but the vascular risk factor (VRF) profile of INPH patients has not been assessed using a modern epidemiological approach. 15. Vascular dementia - classification and clinical correlates
Abstract : During the period (1976-1995) a total of 175 consecutive patients (m 88/f 87) with neuropathologically verified vascular dementia (VaD) were examined. 22 patients with pure Alzheimer's Disease (AD) were also studied. All patients were diagnosed and followed at the Department of Psychogeriatrics (Lund University Hospital). READ MORE
