1. Characterization of Small Antennas & Wireless Devices for MIMO Systems in Multipath & Line-of-Sight
Abstract : The current thesis investigates over-the-air (OTA) performance characterization of small antennas and wireless terminals in rich isotropic multipath (RIMP) environment, as well as in pure line-of-sight (LOS) environment when taking into account the random positions and orientations of the mobile terminals caused by the realistic user behavior. The latest mobile wireless terminals such as smart phones and tablets can be used in any random orientation thereby making even a received LOS-component appear as a random voltage at the antenna ports over time. 2. Enabling socio-technical transitions – electric vehicles and high voltage electricity grids as focal points of low emission futures
Abstract : Today humankind is facing numerous sustainability challenges that require us to question CO2 intensive practices like those present in the transport and energy sector. To meet those challenges, many countries have adopted ambitious climate targets. Achieving such targets requires an understanding of the wider socio-technical context of transitions. READ MORE

3. Residential solar photovoltaics deployment: barriers and drivers in space
Abstract : In order to support a sustainability transition in the energy sector, actors need knowledge about barriers and drivers to the deployment of clean energy technologies. Solar photovoltaics (PV) is a renewable energy technology that is technically mature and on the verge of becoming economically competitive in numerous regions around the world. READ MORE

4. Barriers, drivers and context environment of technological innovation : An analysis of the biogas industry in Russia
Abstract : Global warming issues and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions are high on many political agendas, and many scientists urge immediate changes to existing energy systems. In order to limit the drastic effects of climate change, complex solutions should be found that affect various sectors such as energy, agriculture, waste management, and transport. READ MORE

5. Energy innovation and sustainability transitions in China: Building energy efficiency and renewable energy
Abstract : The assumption underlying this thesis is that both technological development and institutional and structural change are required to achieve a more sustainable building sector in China. Earlier literature has taken an approach based on the technological innovation system (TIS) to evaluate and understand the dynamics of technology development and change processes. READ MORE
