  1. 1. Aspects of creep-fatigue in gas turbine hot parts

    Author : Magnus Hasselqvist; Gunnar Härkegård; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : creep; fatigue; TMF; gas turbine; modelling; life assessment; ageing; micro-structure; solute drag; back stress; Haynes 230; IN792;

    Abstract : The goal is reliable creep-fatigue lifing methodology for industrial gas turbines.A literature study on high temperature materials used in gas turbines reveals that:• Most testing/modelling work has focused on characterisation and modelling of material response in isothermal standard tests, i.e. creep, tensile and LCF tests. 2. 2. Modelling of the cyclic behaviour of superalloys

    Author : Rebecka Brommesson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; FEM; kinematic hardening; Cyclic plasticity; TMF; superalloy;

    Abstract : In the aviation industry today there is a trend of increasing operating temperatures in turbine engines. The advantages with higher temperatures in the engines are improved performance and efficiency. READ MORE

  3. 3. Crack growth in single crystal gas turbine blade alloys under service-like conditions

    Author : Frans Palmert; Johan Moverare; David Gustafsson; Mikael Segersäll; Philippa A.S. Reed; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Single crystal superalloy; TMF; Crack growth; Crystallographic crack growth; Aging; Hold time; Creep crack growth;

    Abstract : This work concerns the fatigue crack growth behaviour of nickel base single crystal superalloys. The main industrial application of this class of materials is in gas turbine blades, where the ability to withstand severe mechanical loading in combination with high temperatures is required. 4. 4. Modelling of TMF Crack Growth in Polycrystalline Gas Turbine Alloys : Accounting for Crack Closure Effects

    Author : Jordi Loureiro-Homs; Kjell Simonsson; Robert Eriksson; Daniel Leidermark; Tomas Månsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The main objective of the work presented in this Licentiate of Engineering thesis is to investigate and model the fatigue crack propagation behaviour of the nickel-based superalloy Inconel 792, with special attention to the industrial lifing of high-temperature components. In-phase (IP) crack propagation tests have been performed at different temperatures and loading regimes, including extended hold times. READ MORE

  5. 5. On Thermomechanical Fatigue of Single-Crystal Superalloys

    Author : Mikael Segersäll; Johan Moverare; Jonathan Cormier; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Thanks to their excellent mechanical and chemical properties at temperatures up to 1000 °C, nickel-based superalloys are used in critical components in high-temperature applications such as gas turbines and aero engines. One of the most critical components in a gas turbine is the turbine blade, and to improve the creep and fatigue properties of this component, it is sometimes cast in single-crystal form rather than in the more conventional poly-crystalline form.
