    Abstract : Prostate cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in men worldwide, with 10,000 new cases/year diagnosed in Sweden. In this context, there is an urgent need to identify new biomarkers to detect prostate cancer at an initial stage for earlier treatment intervention. READ MORE

    Abstract : Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with the incidence rapidly increasing in Europe over the past two decades. Reliable biomarkers for prostate cancer are currently unavailable. Thus, there is an urgent need for improved biomarkers to diagnose prostate cancer at an early stage and to determine the best treatment options. READ MORE

  3. 3. The role of Smad7 and TRAF6 in Prostate Cancer Cell Invasion, Migration and Survival

    Author : Maria Ekman; Marene Landström; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Jonas Fuxe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TGF-beta; cell migration; invasion; apoptosis; Smad7; APC; ATM; TRAF6; p53; PC3U; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Abstract : Transforming growth factor (TGF) β is a tumor suppressor during early tumor development, by inhibiting proliferation and inducing apoptosis. At later stages of cancer, it becomes a tumor promoter, and promotes tumor cell migration and invasion. TGFβ signals via its type II and type I receptors to several downstream signaling pathways. 4. 4. Molecular mechanisms for activation of non-canonical TGFβ pathways and their importance during prostate cancer progression

    Author : Anahita Hamidi; Marene Landstöm; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Ramin Massoumi; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Prostate cancer is the most common invasive cancer diagnosed in men and a major and growing health problem in Western countries. Deregulation of different pathways has been implicated in progression of prostate cancer, namely nuclear factor kappa enhancer binding protein (NF-κB), transforming growth factor β (TGFβ), phosphoinositide 3ʹ-kinase/AKT (PI3K/AKT) and Src kinase pathways. Abstract : Cancer is a disease that involves aggressive changes in the genome and aberrant signals between the living cells. Signalling pathways such as TGF-β (Transforming growth factor-β), Wnt, EGF (epidermal growth factor) and HIF (Hypoxia-inducible factor) evolved to regulate growth and development in mammals. READ MORE
