  1. 1. Adenoviral small non-coding RNAs : A Structural and Functional Charaterization

    Author : Wael Kamel; Göran Akusjärvi; Ben Berkhout; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : non-coding RNA miRNA mivaRNA canonical Dicer Ago2 TSS m7G Cap Adenovirus replication E2B;

    Abstract : Since their discovery in 1953, adenoviruses have significantly contributed to the understanding of virus-host cell interactions, including mechanistic details of cellular processes such as cell cycle control and alternative RNA splicing. Among the first characterized adenoviral genes were the virus-associated RNAs (VA RNAI/II), which are produced in massive amount during a lytic infection. READ MORE

  2. 2. Particle concentrations : analysis methods for urban runoff

    Author : Kerstin Nordqvist; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Urban runoff often contains high concentrations of particles. Pollutants that adsorbs to surfaces of particulate material will be transported to receiving waters or a sewage treatment plant. For the recipient, the particles in the runoff are a significant cause of water quality impairment. READ MORE

  3. 3. Road runoff quality in cold climates

    Author : Camilla Westerlund; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : The main objective of the doctoral thesis was to investigate the complex processes and influencing factors affecting snowmelt-induced runoff and snowmelt quality in a cold climate under wintry conditions compared to non- winter conditions in areas with a warmer climate. In order to improve the understanding and knowledge of road-runoff quantity, quality and pollutant transport, snowmelt and rainfall runoff were studied and characterized in the laboratory and in the field, respectively. 4. 4. Characteristics of taste and smell alterations in patients treated for lung cancer : translation of and results using a symptom specific questionnaire

    Author : Jennifer McGreevy; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : cultural adaptation;

    Abstract : Background: Taste and smell alterations (TSAs) have been found to be common and distressing symptoms for patients with cancer. TSAs may also relate to other symptoms affecting food consumption and contribute to poor nutritional intake. Evidence-based knowledge to guide healthcare staff in identificati on and management of TSAs is lacking. READ MORE

  5. 5. Innate lymphocyte responses in inflammatory diseases

    Author : Johanna Emgård; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The immune system is a highly sophisticated system that has evolved to protect the host from external and internal threats. However, under some circumstances the immune response can get dysregulated and cause inflammatory diseases. READ MORE
