  1. 11. Some Aspects of Improving Initial Filling Conditions and Steel Cleanliness by Flow Pattern Control Using a Swirling Flow in the Uphill Teeming Process

    Author : Zhe Tan; Pär Jönsson; Ersson Mikael; Stein Tore Johansen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; uphill teeming; ingot casting; flow pattern; swirl blade; TurboSwirl; realizable k-ε model; CFD.;

    Abstract : The flow pattern has widely been recognized to have an impact on the exogenous non-metallic inclusion generation in the gating system and mold flux entrapment in the uphill teeming process. Thus, a well-controlled flow pattern during the teeming process can improve the quality of ingots and further increase the yield during steel production. READ MORE

  2. 12. For every word has its own shadow: Sunsets, Notes From Underground, Waves

    Author : Lisa Tan; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; affect; becoming; Maurice Blanchot; displacement; dispossession; essay film; experimental video; geological time; liminal; Clarice Lispector; materialism; primordial obscurity; provisional; solitude; Susan Sontag; threshold; transformation; translation; video; video installation; Virginia Woolf;

    Abstract : Liminality permeates this doctoral project's questions: how can an experience of the liminal exist as an artwork? What things and experiences can orient us towards affectivity and states of becoming? Lisa Tan relates such concerns to Clarice Lispector whose writing renders becoming(s) visible. Coupled with Maurice Blanchot and his literary discourse on dispossession and the outside (analogous to becoming), Tan's inquiry is critically engaged inside a moving image practice. READ MORE

  3. 13. Excess pore water pressure generation in crushed and fine granular materials under cyclic traffic loads

    Author : Tan Manh Do; Jan Laue; Hans Mattsson; Qi Jia; Ivo Herle; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Geoteknik; Soil Mechanics;

    Abstract : Excess pore water pressure can develop in subgrades of railway and pavement substructures due to cyclic loading from heavy traffic, leading to the migration of fine particles into upper layers. This migration can clog pores and diminish the drainage capacity of upper layers,negatively impacting the long-term performance of sub-structures and service life, ultimately risking failure. 4. 14. Excess pore water pressure generation in fine granular materials under cyclic loading -A laboratory study

    Author : Tan Manh Do; Jan Laue; M. Kubilay Kelesoglu; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Excess pore water pressure; migration of particles; fine granular materials; cyclic loading; Soil Mechanics; Geoteknik;

    Abstract : Abstract Excess pore water pressure can be generated in subgrades of both railway and pavement sub-structures under cyclic loading caused by heavy traffic. When saturated subgrades are subjected to cyclic loading, excess pore water pressures accumulate over time which then could lead to migration of particles into overlying layers. READ MORE

  5. 15. Fundamental Limits in Wireless Wideband Networking

    Author : Tan Tai Do; Mikael Skoglund; Tobias Oechtering; Olav Tirkkonen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The rapid growth of the wireless communication industry recently does not only bring opportunities but also challenges on developing radio technologies and solutions that can support high data rate as well as reliable and efficient communications. Two fundamental factors that limit the transmission rate are the available transmit energy and the available bandwidth. READ MORE
