  1. 1. Optimal Decisions with Limited Information

    Author : Ather Gattami; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; systems; numerical analysis; Computer science; Convex Optimization; Graph Theory; Team Decision Theory; Game Theory; control; Datalogi; numerisk analys; system; kontroll; Automation; robotics; control engineering; Automatiska system; robotteknik; reglerteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis considers static and dynamic team decision problems in both stochastic and deterministic settings. The team problem is a cooperative game, where a number of players make up a team that tries to optimize a given cost induced by the uncertainty of nature. READ MORE

    Abstract : In response to technological advances, especially in the field of information and communication technology (ICT), the so called revolution in military affairs (RMA) and later the concept of network-centric warfare (NCW) emerged as a theory to further utilize technology for military command and control (C2). Advocates of the Swedish ROLF 2010-vision and the concept of NCW have made claims and assumptions that future technology will improve mission effectiveness by, for example, increasing the understanding of a current situation and its development, the speed of command, and providing means to utilize more efficient forms of organizations. 3. 3. The analogy as a decision model : a study of management team members in two consulting firms

    Author : Anders Nilsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []

    Abstract : Decision making is often characterized as the trading-off between means and ends, facilitating a "rational choice". One central argument of this thesis is that the rational actor metaphor is over-emphasized in management theory. READ MORE

  4. 4. Probabilistic modeling in sports, finance and weather

    Author : Jan Lennartsson; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : Mathematical modelling; Game theory; Team sport tactics; Modern portfolio theory; Gaussian fields; Team sport tactics;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we build mathematical and statistical models for a wide variety of real world applications. The mathematical models include applications in team sport tactics and optimal portfolio selection, while the statistical modeling concerns weather and specifically precipitation. READ MORE

  5. 5. Concept decisions in product development process

    Author : Ingrid Kihlander; Margareta Norell Bergendahl; Sofia Ritzén; Jenny Janhager; Matti Kaulio; KTH; []
    Keywords : concept evaluation; decision making; product development;

    Abstract : Successful concept decisions are crucial for product development organisations. Failure in theconcept decision-making process means costly rework, requiring resources that could havebeen spent on innovative work with new products instead. This licentiate thesis tackles theconcept decision-making process and how to improve it. READ MORE
