  1. 31. Mechanics and tribology of micro- and nanolayered PVD coatings

    Author : Urban Wiklund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : Thin coatings produced by physical vapour deposition (PVD) are increasingly applied tomechanical components such as metal cutting tools, forming tools and machine elements.Improved micro- and nanolayered PVD coatings have been studied with respect tomechanical and tribological properties. 2. 32. Wear resistant low friction coatings for machine elements

    Author : Olle Wänstrand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : By the introduction of machine elements made of light metals, e.g. Al or Mg alloys, which are coated with a material providing high wear resistance and low friction coefficient, both economical and environmental benefits can be gained. A high resistance against wear results in increased lifetime and lower costs for spare parts and maintenance. READ MORE

  3. 33. Ionic transport of α-alumina below 1000°C : an in-situ impedance spectrosocpy study

    Author : Johan Öijerholm; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; α-alumina; in-situ impedance spectroscopy; molecular dynamics; spark plasma sintering; conductivity; microstructure; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Ionic conductivity of metal oxides is critical for the function of a broad range of different components, such as electrolytes in solid oxide fuel cells and alloys designed for high temperature applications. In both cases the ionic conductivity can be studied by in situ impedance spectroscopy, which is also able to reveal information on the dielectric properties of the metal oxides, and in some cases the influence of their microstructure. 4. 34. Solar Thermal Collectors at High Latitudes : Design and performance of non-tracking concentrators

    Author : Monika Adsten; Manuel Collares-Pereira; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Solar thermal collectors; concentrators; CPC; high latitudes; Materialvetenskap; Solfångare; koncentratorer; höga latituder; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Solid State Physics; fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Abstract : Solar thermal collectors at high latitudes have been studied, with emphasis on concentrating collectors. A novel design of concentrating collector, the Maximum Reflector Collector (MaReCo), especially designed for high latitudes, has been investigated optically and thermally. READ MORE

  5. 35. Solving Problems in Surface Engineering and Tribology by Means of Analytical Electron Microscopy

    Author : Ernesto Coronel; Sture Hogmark; Urban Wiklund; Mats Halvarsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Tribology; Electron Microscopy; Surface Engineering; Structure and Composition; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : It is well known that thin coatings can provide increased lifetime and reduced energy consumption for tools and components. During use, e.g. READ MORE
