1. Porous Amorphous Calcium Carbonate and Phosphate : Synthesis and Application
Abstract : The synthesis of porous amorphous calcium carbonate (ACC) and porous amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) was developed in this thesis. Porous ACC with specific Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area of >350 m2/g was synthesized using a surfactant free approach. The high surface area of porous ACC was related to its nanostructure. 2. Synthesis and Characterization of Functionalized Silica Mesoporous Crystals : Cationic Surfactant and Co-structure Directing Agent System
Abstract : This dissertation has been focused on the synthesis and characterization of novel functionalized silica mesoporous crystals by using cationic surfactant and co–structure directing agents (CSDA), the central concept of the synthesis method is to build proper organic/inorganic interactions by introducing CSDA into the synthesis system. By using cationic surfactant as template and anionic CSDA, carboxylic group functionalized mesoporous silicas were successfully synthesized. READ MORE

4. Synthesis of degradable aliphatic polyesters: strategies to tailor the polymer microstructure
Abstract : Key factors for successful tissue engineering are the synthesis and design of the scaffold materials. Aliphatic polyesters have been studied and often used as scaffold materials for tissue engineering. However, their lack of biological cues and degradation under high-temperature processing (e.g. READ MORE

5. Mesostructured particulate silica materials with tunable pore size : Synthesis, characterization and applications
Abstract : Colloidal assemblies of surfactants and polymers in aqueous solutions have been used by human mankind for hundreds of years and they are of great importance in many of our technological processes, such as fabrication of soap and papermaking. Less than two decades ago the idea of using colloidal assemblies as templates of inorganic materials was borne. READ MORE
